Wednesday Addams has received an anime makeover, specifically with her internet-breaking dance moves.

The reinvention has manifested in the form of fan art was posted on Twitter, which depicts the titular character from Netflix's kooky and spooky live-action series with larger eyes and a sharper chin as she showcases her funky moves at Nevermore's school dance. Of course, the scene in question showed the eponymous Addams put on a Gothic groove clinic to the musical backdrop of The Cramps' "Goo Goo Muck." However, put through an anime lens, the scene gets an intriguing new tone.

Wednesday's Meme-Friendly Dance Scene

The dance scene from Wednesday has become a popular inspiration for fan-made content of all types. Notably, pop music superstar Lady Gaga repurposed the macabre high schooler's unique moves for the "Bloody Mary" TikTok challenge. Moreover, a funny cosplay video references Wednesday's dancing and shows her facing off against none other than Chainsaw Man's Aki Hayakawa.

Wednesday premiered on Netflix in November; the series presents the latest iteration of the satirical inversion of the ideal 20th-century nuclear American family. Starring Jenna Ortega as the titular character, the story follows Wednesday as she attends a new school after releasing a swarm of piranhas on a group of bullies as retribution for them tormenting her brother, Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez). While initially very resistant to the idea of staying at Nevermore Academy, Wednesday eventually finds herself obsessed with finding the culprit behind a slew of recent local murders.

Alongside Ortega and Ordonez, Wednesday stars Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, George Burcea as Lurch, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester and Victor Dorobantu as Thing. Other members of the cast include Gwendoline Christie, Emma Myers, Christina Ricci and Riki Lindhome. In terms of the creative team behind the series, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar created the show with Tim Burton serving as one of the directors and Danny Elfman receiving a composer credit.

Upon its debut, Wednesday quickly proved itself as a smash hit. It currently holds Netflix's record for most hours viewed in a single week for an English-language series. Viewers watched the show for an insane total of 341.2 hours during its first week on the streaming platform and since then, Wednesday has consistently remained ranked among Netflix's Top 10 television shows. In fact, according to a report by Variety, the comedy horror series is on track to become the streaming giant's most successful show in history. Having accumulated over 752 million hours of watch time since its release so far, Wednesday currently stands as Netflix's third most-watched English-language show behind Stranger Things and Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

Wednesday's first season is available to stream on Netflix, and the showrunners have already teased plans for a potential second season.
