Alex Garner created a haunting variant cover for the Web of Venom: Empyre's End one-shot.

The cover features Knull, the God of the Symbiotes, front and center. Knull's face is twisted into a horrific grimace, while red tendrils flow from his sword to form the spiraling symbol that marks his Symbiote minions. Empyre's End serves as a prelude to the King in Black miniseries. The trade dress variant goes for $20 and has a 3,000 print run. The virgin variant is getting a 1,000 print run but is only available in the 2-Pack Virgin Set for $55. The covers will debut on Nov. 11.

The Web of Venom one-shots have fleshed out the current run of Venom, and Empyre's End is no exception. As its title indicates, the one-shot will take place in the wake of Empyre. That story saw the Avengers and Fantastic Four battle the plant-like Cotati. Knull has slowly been on the warpath towards Earth, and his arrival spells doom for the heroes of the Marvel Universe.

Knull has been a looming threat in Donny Cates' Venom run, appearing in the first story arc when one of his Grendel dragons was let loose. He was finally set loose from his prison during the events of Absolute Carnage. Cates and Ryan Stegman, who worked together on Absolute Carnage, will reunite for King in Black.

Web of Venom: Empyre's End #1 by Clay McLeod Chapman and Guiu Villanova goes on sale in October from Marvel Comics and Alex Garner's variant edition goes on sale on Nov. 11. King in Black #1 will go on sale in December.
