The following contains spoilers for Savage Avengers #2, on sale now from Marvel.

Marvel's Weapon H Hulkverine hybrid undergoes a transformation in Savage Avengers #2 that sees them take on the form of another familiar character: Harpy.

Savage Avengers #2 comes from writer David Pepose, artist Carlos Magno, color artist Espen Grundetjern and letterer VC's Travis Lanham. In the issue, Clay Cortez/Weapon H is battling enemies alongside Black Knight in a medieval pub when the two realize they might have taken on more opponents than they bargained for. Clay fends them off with his adamantium claws for a time; however, he tells Black Knight that he can't transform into Grey Hulk because he's "trying to restart [his] gamma core...but it won't fire up!"

Weapon H became the new Red Hulk and Harpy

The two decide to make a run for it only to find themselves at the top of a tower they have no choice but to jump off of. Falling through the air, Black Knight is miraculously saved by Cortez -- only, he hasn't transformed into Grey Hulk this time. Instead, he's managed to become Red Hulk with massive wings and talons, essentially making him a different version of Betsy Ross' Harpy. "Somehow I changed my gamma frequency -- and it turned me into this," Cortez tells Black Knight as they fly away. "I dunno what this means for me moving forward...But all I know for sure is...I don't think I'm just a Hulk anymore."

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Harpy first appeared in 1973's The Incredible Hulk #168. Ross initially became after she was kidnapped by MODOK and subject to the same kind of gamma radiation that turned Bruce Banner into the Hulk. Ross later transformed into Red She-Hulk in 2009's Hulk #15 before becoming Red Harpy in 2019's Immortal Hulk #16.
