Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming's enduring creator-owned hit "Powers" is set to conquer another platform -- this time, tabletop games from IDW Publishing's IDW Games, as revealed today at WonderCon. A series of "Powers" games are planned; card, board, and dice games.

Here's the description IDW's first "Powers game" release, "Powers: The Card Game," scheduled for early 2016: "The first 'Powers' game will be a small box game where players will take on the role of investigators hunting down super-powered criminals, or 'powers.' In the game, players will be working together to track and hopefully capture a player-controlled super villain before time runs out. The game will feature an array of criminals pulled from the comic series, each with their own special abilities and rules. Throughout the course of play, players will not only have to determine how to catch their prey, but who exactly they're hunting before they escape into the night for good."

"We are thrilled to be teaming up with our friends at IDW," Bendis said in the announcement. "We have been very careful about how we merchandise 'Powers'... only teaming up with the very best. And for these games, which are easily our most requested items, IDW is the perfect place."

This news comes a month after the long-in-the-works "Powers" TV series debuted on Sony's PlayStation network; prose novels based on the comic are also on the way.

"Powers" is the latest comic book-based games planned for IDW Games, whose releases have included games inspired by comics both from IDW Publishing, like "Kill Shakespeare," and -- like "Powers" -- from other publishers, like Image Comics hit "Chew."
