The big Star Wars news at WonderCon Saturday was that a young bounty hunter hired by Darth Vader to locate the Millennium Falcon will appear in the three-episode season two finale of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" on the Cartoon Network.
Pablo Hidalgo of Lucasfilm introduced the show's panel and made hints that the famed starship will also appear before the season is through. The first episode with Boba Fett airs April 23. Daniel Logan will reprise his role as the beloved character but will be returning a little older and a little lonely, he said Saturday.
The idea to bring Fett back originated over a year ago and it's been a touch secret to keep at conventions, Logan said.
Logan, Jaime King (the voice of Aurra Sing), and the show's Supervising Director Dave Filoni presented an exclusive peak of new "Clone Wars" episodes with a small snippet from the season finale.
"I geeked out myself so I know you guys are going to," Filoni said.
Filoni added that prior to working on the show, Logan was the only Star Wars actor he had ever approached for an autograph.
It was revealed that Sing is going to take Fett under her wing and attempt to be his mentor as he grows up. The show will explore "how he developed his moral code."
Other things to come include a "Godzilla-sized" monster thought up by George Lucas. According to Filoni, everyone knows that he is the Godzilla fanatic, but Lucas came up with the idea on his own.
The presentation opened with an "Empire Strikes Back" trailer and featured a montage of footage from previous Star Wars conventions to ramp up the audience for Star Wars: Celebration V, which takes place in Orlando from August 12 to 15.
"It's going to be the biggest Star Wars convention ever and every time we say that and every time it proves to be true," Hidalgo said.
