Warner Bros. is developing a reimagining of Bram Stoker's Dracula for Orphan and Unknown director Jaume Collet-Serra, Deadline reports.

Called Harker, the spec script by Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy recasts Jonathan Harker as a Scotland Yard detective on the trail of the fearsome vampire. The studio views the character as a potential franchise star. In Stoker's 1897 novel, Harker was an estate agent dispatched to meet with the mysterious Count Dracula in Transylvania, where he comes a prisoner.

Harker will be produced by Appian Way partners Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran in conjunction with Mad Hatter Entertainment's Michael Connolly.

Shipman and McGreevy's script is unrelated to Markosia Entertainment's 2009 graphic novel Harker, which was optioned in July by Canadian filmmaker Alexander Galant. Bleeding Cool contends the Warner Bros. project now places that movie deal "in jeopardy."
