Gotham Knights and Batman: Arkham Origins developer WB Games Montréal is reportedly working on a new AAA game.

A post on the r/GamingLeaksandRumors subreddit features images of a pair of WB Games Montréal job postings, which announce openings for the roles of Senior Concept Artist and Senior Gameplay Programmer. The job listing specifically claimed accepted applicants will be working on an unnamed AAA title, which will allegedly be built on the Unreal Engine. It was also stated that programmers with experience in multiplayer architecture will be given more consideration, leading some commentators to speculate the project will be designed around a live-service model similar to Gotham Knights.

The post additionally mentions a previous report, which claimed one of WB Games Montréal's senior artists was simultaneously working on an unannounced project during the production of Gotham Knights. WB Games Montréal's history with the DC franchise has also already led some fans to theorize that the unnamed AAA title might be a new Batman video game, though the developer has yet to confirm any rumors.

The late actor Kevin Conroy, who voiced the titular vigilante in all of Rocksteady Studios' entries into the Batman: Arkham series (Roger Craig Smith took over the role Arkham Origins), previously claimed he was unaware of any Arkham game in active development. "I wish there was [another game]. I really do," Conroy said. "Because people ask all the time. But you have to understand how expensive they are to build. They cost a fortune. They take years. Arkham Knight took two years to put together and it was a huge secret. No one could know about it, and there are 37,000 lines of recorded dialogue in that game because depending on how you play it, there are all these different rabbit holes you can go down."

A recent patch for the PC version of Gotham Knights accidentally disabled its anti-piracy software, leaving the game open to hackers and illegal distributors. While WB Games Montréal quickly posted a hotfix for the vulnerability, the lapse in security led to some concerns regarding Gotham Knights' future. Fans speculated the incident will lead to lower sales, as players may now opt to pirate the game for free rather than purchase a legitimate copy. Hackers might also be capable of updating illegal versions of the game using official patches, which will likely lower revenue from possible expansion packs.

WB Games Montréal's unnamed AAA title has yet to receive an official release date. Gotham Knights is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
