Whether anime viewers love it or hate it, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has been a fan-favorite series for decades. With its bold and beautiful art style, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure continues to captivate fans as each new season delivers fast-paced fights and unique characters. There's no shortage of action, incredible abilities, or comedy. Although the franchise has a massive fanbase, many JoJo's Bizarre Adventure viewers can agree that the series has seen a decline in quality since its very first episode.

In the never-ending story of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, fans follow the lineage of Jonathan Joestar as they battle enemies all around the world. The series is now in its fifth season and there's no denying things have changed since the first episode. While JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is still thrilling, there are some ways that it has really gone off track.

10 Hamon Became A Thing Of The Past

Baron Zeppeli using Hamon in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

In Phantom Blood, Hamon was the power Zeppeli taught Jonathan to defeat Dio. Hamon was a breathing technique used to harness the sun's light and energy, which was also passed down to Joseph. Joseph used Hamon to defeat the Pillar Men.

It wasn't until Stardust Crusaders that Hamon was no longer used and Stands became the new power type. Stands are a character's life energy in a physical form, and they have many abilities. While Stand battles make great entertainment, it was abrupt for Stands to take over like Hamon never existed.

9 Dio Brando Continues To Be Present

Dio looks down on humanity in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Dio immediately became Jonathan's enemy and quickly acquired the power to become immortal. Thanks to that power, Dio managed to survive instances where he normally would've died. Every time fans thought Dio was out of the picture, he came right back as the enemy.

Having dealt with three generations of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, starting with Jonathan and ending with Jotaro, Dio couldn't escape as the main antagonist. With the story progressing and moving forward with new generations, Dio should be put to rest. However, his name continues to be part of every JoJo's Bizarre Adventure that fans encounter.

8 Every Character Becomes A Stand User

When Stands were introduced in Stardust Crusaders, it immediately became apparent that Stand Users would be lurking around every corner. Fans knew exactly who would be the next Stand User because everyone Jotaro and his crew encountered turned out to be Stand Users, too. As JoJo's Bizarre Adventure continued, the same would be said for seasons to come.

Josuke's entire friend group ended up being Stand Users in Diamond is Unbreakable. In Golden Wind, Gio also surrounded himself with Stand Users, and the same could be said for Jolyne in Stone Ocean. It's apparent that Stand Users are everywhere at this point, and it's no longer a surprise.

7 There's Little To No Room For Development

Ever since Stands were introduced, Stand Users barely need a crash course in knowing how to control their Stands. Even Stand Users who have newly acquired Stand abilities are able to control their Stands well enough to defeat their enemies.

Jonathan received training for using Hamon by Zeppeli, and Joseph was trained by Lisa Lisa's subordinates. Both Jonathan and Joseph had to bumble through harnessing their Hamon abilities, but now characters don't really need to learn how to use their Stands. A short training arc, like what was done in previous seasons, could've been interesting.

6 JoJo Always Comes Out On Top As The Winner

A fight between Jotaro and Dio in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders.

Ever since Dio showed up on Jonathan's doorstep, he made sure Jonathan's life would be filled with misery. He even added insult to injury by stealing Jonathan's body. It was an unexpected twist, but it showed that anything could happen in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Jonathan's death made fans feel like impending doom could fall upon Joseph at any moment in the next part, and that it could also happen to Jotaro. However, it became clear that JoJo would always win. Josuke and Gio also went on to show that they wouldn't be losing any time soon. With a storyline like this, there's no room for suspense.

5 Stand Battles Feel Repetitive

Once Stands became the definitive power type, Stand battles began to feel like a repeat of what previously happened. When a new JoJo is introduced, it's assumed that they already have a Stand or will develop one. Once the Stand is acquired, fans know this means there will soon be enemy Stand Users.

While it's still entertaining to see what a character's Stand can do, once it's revealed, it's a matter of waiting to see if the Stand can do anything else. Thankfully, strategy is still crucial in Stand battles, which saves them from being boring. It's interesting to see how characters will use intellect to win.

4 The Pacing Has Slowed Down Since The Beginning

The Joestar Team from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders.

The story immediately took off when Dio and Jonathan began clashing on day one. It quickly escalated, and soon Joseph was in for a fast-paced ride of defeating foes just like his grandfather. Once Stardust Crusaders came into play, however, things slowed down.

Stardust Crusaders was stretched out with the most meaningful parts happening more than halfway through. Their adventures were often interesting, but they only served to extensively show fans how different and powerful Stands could be. Diamond is Unbreakable picked back up, but things slowed down once again in Golden Wind and Stone Ocean. The pace is not what it once used to be.

3 The Plot Armor Has Become Very Thick

Part of what makes JoJo's Bizarre Adventure so different is how bizarre it can truly be. However, there are times when it goes past bizarre and enters a place where thick plot armor is given to its characters. While plot armor situations are sometimes believable, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure kicks it up a notch.

Dio survived encounters because he was immortal. Other characters, however, managed to cheat death thanks to coincidences, random knowledge that the protagonist is suddenly an expert on, or new Stand abilities. Deaths still occur in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, but the series continues to find ridiculous ways to keep characters alive.

2 The Protagonists Are Becoming Too Similar To Their Predecessors

Jolyne with Stone Free Stand in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean.

Gio and Jolyne have apparent similarities to their parents. Gio, Dio's son, has a habit of using his father's catchphrase, which is, "Useless! Useless! Useless!" Because Golden Wind is vastly different from the other parts, it seems he uses this catchphrase to show that he is still part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure world.

Jolyne, Jotaro's rebellious daughter, has a Stand that lays a barrage of lightning-speed punches to its foe while crying out, "Ora! Ora! Ora!" just like Jotaro's Stand. This is interesting because Jolyne's relationship with her father is almost nonexistent. As time goes on, it's unfortunate to see how new protagonists are being influenced too heavily by previous ones.

1 The Characters Are Losing Their Complexity

Jonathan Joestar's death in a burning ship, while holding Dio's head in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Jonathan and Joseph were complex characters in the beginning and their counterparts were just as complicated. From Zeppeli to Speedwagon and Caesar to Lisa Lisa, fans got to know every single character and developed attachments to them because of their relationships with the protagonists.

By the time fans were introduced to Stardust Crusaders, relationships had become minimal. Side characters didn't offer much in terms of complementing the protagonist. Fans received backstories for some characters throughout the rest of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, but they were quick. Those backstories didn't relate to the main protagonist the way they did earlier on.
