Fans of The Way of the Househusband will be able to ring in 2023 with the second season of Netflix's anime adaptation.On the official Netflix Anime Twitter account, the streaming giant revealed a new set of stills from The Way of the Househusband. The post confirms that the anime's second season is slated to hit the platform this coming January (though a specific premiere date has still yet to be announced). "Tatsu is back! The Way of the Househusband Season 2 hits Netflix January 2023!" it reads.
Based on the manga of the same name by Kousuke Oono, The Way of the Househusband follows Tatsu, who was once a feared yakuza boss nicknamed "the Immortal Dragon." Tatsu retires from his life of crime in order to support his career-focused wife, Miku, putting his skills to use by doing housework and completing various domestic tasks. The manga was previously adapted into a live-action television drama, which ran for 10 episodes on Japan's Nippon TV in late 2020. A live-action Way of the Househusband feature film was released in the summer of 2022.
Netflix's The Way of the Househusband Returns Next Year
The first season of Netflix's anime adaptation of The Way of the Househusband was split into two parts, each consisting of five episodes. Part 1 premiered in April 2021, with Part 2 following suit in October 2021. "He was the fiercest member of the yakuza, a man who left countless underworld legends in his wake. They called him 'the Immortal Dragon,'" an official synopsis for the anime reads. "But one day he walked away from it all to travel another path -- the path of the househusband! The curtain rises on this cozy yakuza comedy!"
Netflix's The Way of the Househusband Season 1 was largely well-received by audiences. The anime currently holds an audience score of 83 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. It also holds an average user rating of 7.3/10 on IMDb, with half of all users who voted giving it either a 7/10 or an 8/10.
The Way of the Househusband Season 1 is currently streaming on Netflix. Season 2 premieres in January 2023.
