HBO's television adaptation of Watchmen has been universally acclaimed across its entire first season and ended on a strong note, with the season finale earning the highest viewership for the series.

The ninth and final episode of the season received 1.6 million viewers across HBO's broadcast and digital platforms, with 935,000 of which tuning into the initial television broadcast. This exceeds the 1.5 million viewers that watched the series premiere this past October, the previous record holder for the series.

Following their respective premieres, each episode has averaged over 7 million viewers through repeat broadcasts and HBO's various streaming platforms, boosted largely through positive word-of-mouth. It is the most-watched first season of an original series for the premium cable network since 2017's Big Little Lies.

Despite the series' success, both critically and with audiences, showrunner Damon Lindelof has indicated that he currently has no plans to return and develop a second season, claiming he had no immediate ideas for future episodes in the television continuation. He is content that the first season told its own, complete story.

Developed by Damon Lindelof, HBO's Watchmen stars Jeremy Irons, Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Jean Smart, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Tom Mison, James Wolk, Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith and Adelynn Spoon.
