HBO's Watchmen series has been hailed as one of the best new shows of the year. Lost and The Leftovers alumni David Lindelof took a very risky approach when diving into the Watchmen universe, but his calculated moves have paid off. Lindelof has been able to adjust the original theme of the comic for contemporary times. The original comic was able to tackle political and socio-economic issues of the time through the lens of the Cold War. Lindelof has used current political and social issues, such as race and the rise of white nationalists, to mimic the cultural analysis the comic gave fans over 30 years ago.

Lindelof's method of slowly peeling the narrative onion has left many questions for viewers. Several timelines are being explored at once, the origins of classic characters are being reworked enough to create something fresh without disturbing canon, and new legacies are being constructed. The season finale will air this weekend, and hopefully, fans will be given clarity to all of their inquiries. Although there are a plethora of questions that need to be addressed, these are the 10 that we would like to see answered this weekend on the series finale.

10 Who Is Controlling The Squid Rain?

If Ozymandias has been on Europa for ten years, who has been orchestrating the squid rain? Viewers got to witness Ozymandias controlling the squid rain in 2009 when Dr. Manhattan came to visit him. Then, he is transported to Europa. Plot clues have hinted that the squid rain happens often, with Looking Glass investing in an entire bunker to safeguard him in case the Big Squid returns. But if Ozymandias has been away for a decade, who has been controlling the rain? Is it hooked up to an auto-timer or someone else been making sure to keep the people of Earth scared while Ozymandias has been gone?

9 Will Angela Get Dr. Manhattan's Powers?

There has been an overwhelming amount of foreshadowing and winks at the audience throughout the season. If fans carefully pay attention, almost every major plot twist has been hinted at. It is possible the same can be said for the fate of Angela Abar. In "A God Walks Into A Bar," Dr. Manhattan says that he can theoretically transfer his powers to Angela while they are in the bar. Since Dr. Manhattan has only stated that his relationship with Angela ends in "tragedy," but not for whom, fans are beginning to speculate that the tragic moment he is referring to may be his own death. It is possible that he transfers his powers to Angela to stop the 7th Kalvary from gaining them, killing himself in the process.

8 Where Is Looking Glass?

Looking Glass has been missing in action ever since he snitched on Angela. He set his fellow police officer up, leading to Angela taking the Nostalgia pills. He tricks Angela into confessing into a wiretap, which prompts Laurie to arrest her. Rather than give up the pills, Angela swallows them all. Soon after, Looking Glass' home is attacked by 7th Kalvary members, and it looks bad for him. After a brief cliff hanger, viewers are treated to a gory scene of dead 7th Kalvay members laying all over Looking Glass' bunker. How did he escape and where is he now?

7 How Will Laurie React To Cal Being Dr. Manhattan?

Laurie Blake used to date Dr. Manhattan before hanging up her own superhero cape. Now an FBI agent, she hunts down other vigilantes. Still, it appears that her relationship with Dr. Manhattan is something she cannot let go of. We see Blake leaving long messages for her ex via the Mars telecommunication service, set up for people to send prayers to Dr. Manhattan.

Laurie, when questioning Angela later in the show, even comments on how handsome Cal is, unknowingly complimenting her ex. What will happen once the still-in-love Laurie learns that Angela is married to her ex?

6 What Is the Point Of the Horseshoe?

We all know Ozymandias is up to no good, but what kind of no good is it? Throughout the season, two things have been consistent in Ozymandias' storyline: his anniversary cake for each year on Europa, and a horseshoe. Ozy infamously slaughtered all of his clone-servants and threw down a horseshoe onto one of their corpses. The mysterious object reappeared in the penultimate episode when Phillips hides one inside of Ozymandias' anniversary cake. In the post-credit scene, we see Ozy happily discover the horseshoe and beginning digging. It is already known that Ozymandias' timeline doesn't match up with the Tulsa storyline, so it's possible that he escaped and is already in town. The question is, how did the horseshoe help his escape?

5 How Will The Clock Save The Day?

Is Lady Trieu up to no good, or is she really trying to save the world? Will Reeves informed her of the 7th Kalvary's plot to kill Dr. Manhattan and take his powers, and since then Lady Trieu has been building her Millennium Clock to help prevent the end of the planet.

We briefly see Lady Trieu buying the land a comet drops on, and it is suggested that this is where she begins building her clock. Will the Millennium Clock capture Dr. Manhattan's powers or is it a weapon designed to kill the hero for good?

4 Will There Be A Season 2?

Damon Lindelof is being praised for his take on Watchmen, but the series has yet to be picked up for a second season. We assume HBO would love to keep a new hit going in their lucrative Sunday night spot, but it looks like the decision to proceed rests on Lindelof's shoulders. Of course, Warner Bros. could push through another writer and director for another season, but so much of this season's success is Lindelof's. Continuing without his direction seems foolish, so for now, fans are left to speculate if there will be a second season or if this is a one-off event.

3 How Will The Timelines Converge?

In "A God Walks Into A Bar" viewers learn that Dr. Manhattan sends Ozymandias to Europa in 2009. The main storyline in Tulsa takes place in 2019. Fans know from the post-credits scene in the same episode that Ozymandias has been on the Jovian moon for roughly 7 years. That means his entire storyline has taken place in the past. Earlier in the season, we were treated to a flashback of Lady Trieu buying a piece of property where a comet lands. Is it possible that the comet has something to do with Ozymandias' escape back to earth? When will Ozymandias' story finally catch up with Angela's? There is currently a three-year gap from the last Ozymandias scene and the current point of time in the show.

2 What Is Will Reeves' Plan For Angela?

Will Reeves promised Lady Trieu that things with his family wouldn't get complicated and force him to change his mind on their plan. That caused many fans to believe Reeves and Trieu were planning on doing something with Angela. Does this mean that the two are planning to transfer Dr. Manhattan's powers over to Angela, or are they devising a way to sacrifice her for the greater good? Whatever is going on, Trieu suggesting that Reeves would want to change his mind after meeting his granddaughter hints that Angela may be in danger.

1 How Do You Kill Dr. Manhattan?

In the episode "An Almost Religious Awe" we learn that the 7th Kalvary's plot is to kill Dr. Manhattan and take his powers. While this sounds like a pretty decent master plan, fans can't help but wonder how that would be possible. Dr. Manhattan is considered godlike, and it is assumed that he cannot be killed by another human. In the penultimate episode, " A God Walked Into A Bar," Dr. Manhattan admits that he can transfer his powers to someone else, but he would not do it without that person's consent first. In the same episode, we see the 7th Kalvary use a teleportation gun to capture the blue hero, but how will they murder a god?
