Watchmen, Heroes, X-Men 3, V For Vendetta: March 2nd Comic Reel Wrap

Ambition certainly isn’t a problem for director James McTeigue. According to IESB, his adaptation of “V For Vendetta” hasn’t even made its big screen debut, and McTeigue is already eyeing Alan Moore’s superhero masterpiece.

Variety (subscription required) is reporting that helmer Dave Semel is onboard to direct the NBC pilot “Heroes,” a show about ordinary people who discover they have superpowers. As well, actor Greg Grunberg (best known as Agent Weiss on TV’s “Alias” and a regular at the Grove’s Apple Store) has been signed to star alongside Ali Larter and Milo Ventimiglia.

Superhero Hype has a somewhat spoilerish synopsis of the film’s plot, released by the studio.

Sci Fi Wire has some quotes from actress Natalie Portman about the politics of the work. “I think the luck of having it take place in an imaginary future is that it sort of respects the audience to make their own connections to real historical and current events,” Portman said. “And so people see so many different things in it. [Producer] Joel [Silver] tells this story about this South Korean reporter who was convinced it was about North Korea and was like, ‘Is this movie going to be shown in North Korea?’ So you see how people, what context they come from, they bring to the story.”

Toon Zone caught the news from the Cartoon Network’s upfront presentation for media and advertisers, and noted that the as-yet-unnamed “Legion of Superheroes” based show was a certainty, as was the French-produced “Fantastic Four” animated series. They also said to look out for “Ultimate Avengers 2” and “Iron Man” original animated feature films in the fall, as well as an original film putting the Teen Titans in Tokyo with ninja-tastic action from a villain called Brushogun.

Here’s where you get in on the action. Did you see a link we didn’t catch? Have you snuck into a closed movie set, and have inside data? Maybe your cousin is dating somebody who knows something, and they had to tell you? Broadcasting live from Los Angeles, this is novelist/karaoke host/all-around lunatic Hannibal Tabu saying thanks for your time and indulgence, and [tagline sent back to development hell until something hipper can be dreamed up].
