WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for "It's Summer and We're Running Out of Ice," the first episode of HBO's Watchmen.
The new Watchmen television series is officially underway.
Tonight, "It's Summer and We're Running Out of Ice" -- the comic book-based drama's first episode -- aired on HBO. Following the episode's credits, the network aired a two-minute teaser that sets the stage for the rest of the series, including sneak peeks at new characters, locations and plot points.
The trailer picks up after the shocking conclusion of Episode 1 -- which saw the death of Don Johnson's Chief Judd Crawford -- with Regina King's Sister Night trying to get to the bottom of who really killed him, and why.
Furthermore the teaser introduces the audience to such characters as classic Minutemen member Hooded Justice, Jean Smart's Laurie Blake and Hong Chau's Lady Trieu, who boasts a "secret plan to save humanity" that "starts in Oklahoma." All the while, Jeremy Irons' Adrian Veidt discusses his own goals. As Veidt declares that "mankind is ready for change," the clip draws to a close, ending on a brief shot of someone who appears to be none other than Dr. Manhattan.
Developed by Damon Lindelof, HBO's Watchmen stars Jeremy Irons, Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Tom Mison, James Wolk, Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith and Adelynn Spoon. The series airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
