Watch the Impressive First Trailer for Superpower Movie Chronicle

MTV has premiered the first trailer for Fox's Chronicle, the upcoming superpowered-teens movie from screenwriter Max Landis and director Josh Trank that looks ... really kind of amazing.

I've had my fill of the "found footage" schtick popularized (again) by movies like The Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield and Monsters, but I'm willing to make an exception for Chronicle, which follows three high-school students who gain superhuman abilities but don't subscribe to the "With great power comes great responsibility" philosophy.

It looks like what Heroes could've been ... instead of that mess it deteriorated into. Here's the official synopsis:

Three high school students make an incredible discovery, leading to their developing uncanny powers beyond their understanding. As they learn to control their abilities and use them to their advantage, their lives start to spin out of control, and their darker sides begin to take over.

Chronicle, which stars Dane Dehaan, Alex Russell, Michael B. Jordan and Michael Kelly, opens Feb. 3.
