Firestorm returns next week on "The Flash," though it won't be the version viewers have become accustomed to.

"The Fury of Firestorm" introduces Franz Drameh as Jay Jackson, who joins Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber) as the new human half of the nuclear hero.

Originally announced as part of the cast for the upcoming "Arrow"/"Flash" spinoff "DC's Legends of Tomorrow," Drameh's Jackson is described by Warner Bros. as "a former high school athlete, whose pro-career was derailed by injury. Now making ends meets as an auto mechanic, Jay will come to have a surprising affiliation to the S.T.A.R. Labs crew."

Starring Grant Gustin, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker and Jesse L. Martin, "The Flash" airs Tuesdays on The CW on Oct. 6 on at 8 p.m. EST.
