SPOILER WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for "Blood Bonds," last night's episode of "Supergirl."

Since its debut, CBS's "Supergirl" has celebrated the tropes, heroes and villains from its DC Comics source material in a way that is only matched by its spiritual cousin on The CW, "The Flash." From the character's classic origin, to the nods to more modern comic stories, the series combines genuine surprises with a comforting level of familiarity.

Last night's episode continued that trend, resolving (for now) the problem of Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) having learned Kara's (Melissa Benoist) secret identity. The resulting scene (embedded below), in which Kara and Supergirl appear together and interact in Cat's office, likely had more than one new fan wondering how it was going to play out, while longtime comic readers were pondering how the producers were going to present the classic situation.

"Supergirl" airs Mondays on CBS at 8 p.m. EST. Developed by producers Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and Andrew Kreisberg, the series stars Melissa Benoist, Calista Flockhart, David Harewood and Chyler Leigh.
