WATCH: Savage Warns There are 'Infinite Ways to Break a Man' in "Legends of Tomorrow" Clip

When Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber) agreed to join Rip Hunter's quest to save the future on "DC's Legends of Tomorrow," he likely knew the adventure would be fraught with peril. But it's a safe bet he probably didn't count on being tortured by an immortal tyrant who learned techniques from former Soviet Union leader Joseph Stalin.

In a new clip from tonight's episode, "Fail-Safe," Vandal Savage (Casper Crump) puts the fear of something worse than death into Stein, who wants to prevent his Firestorm technology from falling into the wrong hands.

THE TEAM ORCHESTRATES A PRISON BREAK - After some of the Legends are captured and thrown into a Russian gulag during the height of the Cold War of 1986, Snart (Wentworth Miller) leads the team in an elaborate escape plan to free their comrades. However, Rip (Arthur Darvill) gives Sara (Caity Lotz) a secret side mission that could prove not only to be a liability, but fatal to the team. Dermott Downs directed the episode written by Beth Schwartz & Grainne Godfree (#105). Original airdate 2/18/16.

"DC's Legends of Tomorrow" airs Thursday nights at 8 pm EST on The CW.
