The first gameplay footage of "Friday the 13th: The Game" has arrived, and it reveals how players can control and utilize Jason Voorhees as a playable character in this third-person, asymmetrical multiplayer title.

According to the game's description during its highly successful Kickstarter campaign, “‘Friday the 13th: The Game’ is a…1v7 multiplayer set in the semi-open world of Camp Crystal Lake! It’s a classic horror fan’s dream, no shaky cam, no found footage. We want you to know we’re revitalizing the golden era of slashers, and putting you at the controls of each horrific, blood-splattered moment.” The game allows one player will control Jason, while seven control camp counselors try to survive the night.

The project originally began for Gun Media as “Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp,” which -- as you might guess from the title -- fit a certain niche involving a summer camp, a slasher, and more than a few nods to the team’s favorite camp-set slasher film. Cue “Friday the 13th” producer Sean Cunningham, who reached out to Gun Media after seeing the original game’s trailer and struck a deal with the developer for them to acquire the “Friday the 13th” game license. “Slasher” was then reimagined as an officially licensed “Friday the 13th” game, complete with all the Vorhees clan gamers can handle.

"Friday the 13th: The Game" is now available for pre-order.
