Watch: First Trailer For Supernatural Anime

The trailer for Supernatural: The Animation is streaming on the Warner Bros. Japanese website and on The CW's Twitter account for the live-action series.

Announced in early June, the 22-episode adaptation of the cult-hit TV series is produced by Madhouse, the acclaimed anime studio behind Death Note, Paprika and segments of Batman: Gotham Knight. Supernatural: The Animation will cover the first season of the live-action series, remaking some episodes while also introducing original stories.

The series will be released on Blu-ray and DVD in Japan in three volumes beginning Jan. 12.

Debuting in 2005, the live-action Supernatural stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles as Sam and Dean Winchester, brothers who hunt demons and other paranormal creatures. The fifth season, which ended in May, concluded a long-running story arc centering on the fight to stop Lucifer and save the world from the Apocalypse. The sixth season premieres on Sept. 24.
