Before last night's season premiere of Game of Thrones, HBO debuted a teaser for The Leftovers that starts out like a public-image commercial for chemical company before hitting the viewer with the drama's premise: that 140 million people, 2 percent of the world's population, has suddenly disappeared.

Based on the bestselling novel by Tom Perrotta, the Damon Lindelof-produced series picks ups three years after "The Departure," which may or may not have been the Rapture of Christian belief. The Leftovers follows Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux), a father of two and a police chief in a small New York suburb, as he tries to maintain some semblance of normalcy.

The Leftovers premieres this summer on HBO.
