The Watch has a new boss. In a CBR-exclusive clip from "Not on My Watch," the next episode, Sam Vimes appoints Angua as the new acting captain of Ankh-Morpork's City Watch while he undertakes a new mission from which he may not return.

When the clip picks up, Vimes has unsuccessfully attempted to slink out of the Watch House without notice. However, he wasn't as stealthy as he thought, as his whole crew -- Angua, Carrot, Cheery and Lady Sybil Ramkin -- managed to follow him outside. He admitted he was headed to a lake that the Arch-chancellor uses to dissolve magical objects, as he planned to get rid of the talking sword Wayne once and for all.

Immediately, his crew protested. "Wayne speaks and he's alive, sir," Cheery pointed out, only for Carrot to add, "And we're not executioners, sir." In response, Vimes explained Lord Vetinari would execute him otherwise, so he planned to undertake this mission on his own. "So I'm doing this, just me," he announced.

"There is no 'just me!' Not anymore!" Sybil retorted. "We're a team!"

Quickly, Vimes changed the subject by pointing out some graffiti on the steps of the Watch House, leading Carrot to lay out the law it broke. "Keep reading those lawbooks, son," Vimes choked out. "Cheery, don't give up on that jigsaw puzzle. Angua, I'm promoting you to captain."

"Temporarily, sir," Angua insisted, but he bypassed this again by returning to the graffiti, saying, "And I want you all to find whoever's responsible for insulting the dignity of the Watch House."

"It's not an insult, Vimes. It means resist," Sybil explained. "It's a sign that people are starting to believe that we, together, can make things better."

"Look after them, Lady Ramkin," Vimes replied softly, and turned away to begin his journey.

According to the episode description for "Not on My Watch,"

The Watch have the sword, and with it they could wield the force of the Noble Dragon. Vimes would much rather no one had power on that scale. The Watch must trek through the Unreal Estate to destroy the sword in a magical lake. Carcer isn't far behind.

The Watch follows an unlikely group of misfits, The City Watch, who are forced to find the guts to save the world, surprising even themselves in the process. The comedic yet thrilling series pits trolls, werewolves, wizards and other improbable heroes against an evil plot to resurrect a great dragon which would lead to the destruction of life as they know it. From lead writer and executive producer Simon Allen (The Musketeers), the modern and inclusive series is inspired by the characters created by Sir Terry Pratchett’s famous "Discworld" novels, including the captain of The City Watch Sam Vimes (Richard Dormer, Game of Thrones), the last scion of nobility Lady Sybil Ramkin (Lara Rossi, I May Destroy You), the naïve but heroic Carrot (Adam Hugill, 1917), the mysterious Angua (Marama Corlett, Blood Drive) and the ingenious forensics expert Cheery (Jo Eaton-Kent, Don’t Forget the Driver) together with The Watch’s own idiosyncratic depiction of Death (Wendell Pierce, The Wire).

The Watch is executive produced by BBC Studios' Hilary Salmon (Luther) and Phil Collinson (Doctor Who). The series, which will run for eight episodes, is written by Simon Allen (Das Boot). It stars Richard Dormer, Anna Chancellor, Lara Rossi, Ingrid Oliver, James Fleet, Marama Corlett, Sam Adewunmi, Jo Eaton-Kent, Adam Hugill, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Ruth Madeley, Bianca Simone and Ingrid Oliver. The Watch airs Sundays at 8 pm ET/PT on BBC America.
