In Watch Dogs: Legion, the fate of London is in the player's hands. Taking control of a huge cast of characters - all of which have unique, procedurally generated backstories, skills and personalities - players form a resistance faction, all while exploring an open world online with friends and swap between characters at will.

The plot revolves around players forming a resistance while London faces a downfall due to state surveillance, private military and organized crime. Freeing London from the new state is easier said than done, but new players shouldn't be afraid to dive in. These tips can help you survive the world of Watch Dogs: Legion.

Profiling

Players will need to make the best team possible, so it's a good idea would be to profile as many characters as possible. The more things players know about people, the more frequently opportunities will open up. The profiling mechanic is the heart of the game, as collecting as much information as possible will ultimately lead to a player's success, as well as help set up a good team.

To profile people, simply hold the hack button while looking at a person and information about them will appear. This can range from anything like the drugs they take to the weapons they use or their work schedules, which can help you recruit them as a member of the hacker group DedSec. With this ability, it can be easy to find someone who could make a job or mission easier. For example, recruiting a police officer grants access to their uniform, allowing players into otherwise restricted places.

Focus on the Campaign

Watch Dogs: Legion's immense world is filled with high detail and lots of people to interact with. Players should fight the urge to explore and goof around if they want to get anywhere, though, and instead focus on the main campaign. Playing through a good amount of the campaign at first will unlock new operatives, as well as help understand how the game's mechanics work. Once different opportunities start opening up and players realize they have multiple missions to choose from, they're free to explore and do some side missions.

Liberate Boroughs

After getting through most of the campaign, try to focus on liberating the London boroughs. This is an easy thing to do as players just have to complete a few activities, ranging from erasing propaganda to killing a target. Liberating or taking over a borough gives access to special operatives who are more effective than the regular people players will meet and recruit. It is also easier to travel and recruit in a borough that has been freed. These missions and activities are also some of the more fun and cool things to do in the game.

Recruit wisely

Recruiting is the core mechanic of the game, and critical to saving the dying DedSec. However, just because a person seems like a good recruit doesn't mean they are. In this version of London, organized crime and corruption exists, meaning plenty of the open-world characters have relationships with one another in some form. This means it would actually do more harm than good to recruit someone who is a rival to a previous recruit. Rivals are often signaled by a red skull symbol and should give you a reason to seriously consider the value of a new recruit.

It is also important to build characters with synergies. Each character is unique, from their personality all the way to the kind of weapons they use. This also means each recruit has stronger skills in certain areas; for example, an agent skilled at melee combat needs to be equipped with gadgets reinforcing those strengths, while someone who is tech-savvy would be better suited for drones. Synergizing these abilities, gadgets and upgrades to really make a character unique, fun and useful.

Scouting

Before attempting to enter an area during a mission, it's always a good idea to scout it first using things like drones to learn the ins and outs of the area, as well as potential threats or any special interactions. Tag all the enemies, and use cameras and gadgets like the spider bot to get into certain areas or collect key information like guard routes. This will also help discover where traps are placed for the player to get caught or even help players find their objectives.

Scouting makes infiltration much easier, allowing players to experiment with gadgets to figure out new uses that they may not have realized were possible. One example is attaching sticky bombs to drones and flying the drone at hostiles to blow them up. One of the most fun things that can happen in scouting, however, is finding tech points and hackable objects. If a hackable car or machine is found, for example, it could be used to help infiltration.

Fast Traveling

Watch Dogs Legion

Something that players may not realize about the game is that fast traveling is possible. The game doesn't mention it but the subway stations could be used to help players fast travel to key points around the huge open world. This is probably the best way to help get to key areas, meet new people to recruit, and to get back to HQ.

Players will need to go back to HQ in order to select side missions, which are given to them by the people they meet. The more the map is explored, the more stations get unlocked for the train station to take players during fast travels.
