Marvel Comics has provided CBR with an exclusive look at Wastelanders: Doctor Doom #1, by Torunn Gronbekk, Julius Ohta, Bryan Valenza and VC's Cory Petit. In the preview, Doctor Doom arrives in the Wasteland and learns about a place even he didn't know about.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1962's Fantastic Four #5, Victor Von Doom is one of the classic enemies of the Marvel's First Family. However, over the years, he's become a larger threat to the Marvel Universe at large, with many considering him the company's greatest villain. In addition to being proficient with all sorts of technology, Doom can also use magic.

The specific version of the villain in Wastelanders: Doctor Doom #1 is from Earth-21923, which began in 2015's Old Man Logan #1. Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Andrea Sorrentino, this specific part of the multiverse came about when Marvel's various villains teamed up to take down the publisher's heroes, leaving only a handful left alive. Doom, for his part, rules over a large part of the remaining Wasteland.

At the start of Wastelanders: Doctor Doom #1, a group of people head out to try and capture a Doombot and break it down for parts. However, they end up encountering Doctor Doom himself. The villain dispatches the people and learns about a town from which no one returns. Doom heads there and finds that, while the location is in his territory, it's been kept a secret from him. His Doombots do not, for example, bother the idyllic town. By the end of the preview, Doom determines the reason likely has to do with magic, though he's not sure of just what kind.
