The following contains spoilers for Warrior Nun Season 2, now streaming on Netflix.

Season 2 of Netflix's Warrior Nun has some head-turning moments as the Order of the Cruciform Sword (aka the OCS) try to stop Adriel. Unfortunately, he cuts a messianic figure -- nodding to Jodie Christianson from American Jesus -- forging a new religion and a cult. Little do they know, Adriel is weaponizing their prayer, using their energy to open a portal.

Adriel is aiming to bring demons over, but thankfully, the OCS has Ava, Beatrice and other soldiers to fight back. Sadly, there are two nasty betrayals that rock the OCS to the core. While there's redemption garnered for both individuals, the series doesn't handle their U-turn well, at all.

Warrior Nun Makes Vincent's Atonement Inorganic

Warrior Nun Season 2 rushes Vincent's redemption

Father Vincent worked with the OCS in Season 1, only to stab them in the back at the very end. He helped free Adriel, with Season 2 finding Vincent plotting a coup on the Catholic Church. He wants to help Adriel's movement grow, going so far as to use tech to fake miracles.

When he learns, however, that Adriel wants to rule through fear and reshape a world filled with horror, Vincent steals the Crown of Thorns and gives it back to Ava to stop the tyrant. This heel turn is not well-executed, unfortunately, as Ava just meets him in the street, where they reconcile. He did cause the deaths of many when he freed Adriel, plus the cult has also been violent to a lot of people. As such, this development didn't come off as natural.

In addition, the tipping point of Adriel being a monster makes zero sense because he's cut the same figure throughout. The fact he has to be deceitful, while empowering an evil army, occurs in front Vincent's eyes. Thus, by helping Adriel, he should have known right off the bat he was a false prophet. This forms one of many inconsistencies in the plot, which might help explain why there wasn't much promotion of the property.

Warrior Nun Rushes Lilith Back to the Light

Season 2 also has Adriel corrupting Lilith, the ex-OCS member whose body is mutating after fighting the Tarasks. She doesn't trust the OCS to help with her physical changes, plus she's jealous Ava got the Halo over her. As such, Lilith tries to kill Ava in the end with her demonic abilities. However, after Ava cuts her with the divinium sword, summons Tarasks and then kills Adriel, Lilith realizes she's on the wrong side.

This development doesn't add up because Lilith knew what Adriel was from the start. He made it clear he was bringing demons over from another dimension and was planning to enslave Reya (the goddess there), so nothing should come as a bombshell. Instead, the show forces this revelation as some sort of catalyst, when it could have used the holy blade as the item that removed the poison Adriel planted in her.

If the series did that, it wasn't properly executed either because Lilith just watches Adriel die and then offers help to a wounded Ava. Somehow, Ava's series-long crush, Beatrice, immediately trusts Lilith, and they send Ava via the portal to Reya's world to be healed, when this could have been a trap. Ultimately, Lilith had no new reason for an about-face, nor did the OCS have reason to trust her like it did a shifty Vincent, but Warrior Nun rolls with the punches, coming off plot convenient without laying down the proper groundwork for the switch-ups.

Season 2 of Warrior Nun is now streaming on Netflix.
