WARNING: The following contains spoilers for "Ephesians 4:22-24" the third episode of Warrior Nun, now streaming on Netflix.

Brought back to life by an ancient relic implanted in her spine, Warrior Nun's protagonist Ava was not only resurrected and restored to full mobility from her previous paralysis but also granted her an incredible array of superpowers and abilities. From heightened speed and strength to an accelerated healing factor and the ability to go intangible, Ava has become the ultimate weapon in the war between the forces of Heaven and Hell. While now a superhero in her own right, Ava has found both her Excalibur and kryptonite in a material that could channel her destined power and also destroy her.

Following her resurrection, Ava was taken in by an order of Warrior Sisters, nuns that have secretly battled the forces of darkness for millennia, employing both modern and mythical weaponry to prevent humanity from facing total annihilation. As Ava learns about her destiny and the lineage of those who wielded the relic before her, she is introduced to an unusual element. Dubbed Divinium, the substance is described as an organic material rather than a traditional metal, used to forge holy weapons and armor throughout the past several centuries.

As Ava approaches the material, it begins to glow with an unearthly blue light. The Warrior Sisters inform their latest recruit that the one who possesses the holy halo implanted in Ava's back makes the properties of the Divinium more potent. However, the Divinium also poses a considerable threat because Ava is unable to phase intangibly through the material, and wounds inflicted by Divinium weapons take visibly longer to heal and can kill Ava outright.

Ava's effect on Divinium certainly explains why the nefarious tech entrepreneur Jillian Salvius has been hunting Ava after first encountering her in the series' second episode. Salvius' latest project utilizes an ancient breastplate discovered in the deserts of Morocco combined with her own advanced technology to open a portal to Heaven. Witnessing Ava's incredible abilities, Salvius has likely already discovered her potential to augment the armor's properties to create a larger, more sustainable portal between realms. And the unscrupulous businesswoman may not need Ava alive at all for her project, with the possibility of her ability to forcibly extract it from Ava's body at the cost of her life being a distinct strategy moving forward.

In Divinium, Ava has a material that she can channel her powerful abilities, a la Thor's Mjolnir, but also a weapon that could be turned against her; as if Superman could wield a sword made from kryptonite that wouldn't necessarily weaken him from its proximity. As the forces of Hell prepare to resume their assault on the Warrior Sisters, Ava will have to put her new abilities to use empowering Divinium to drive them back. But, in doing so, Salvius and her associates will seek to exploit the vulnerabilities that the organic material presents to Ava all in the name of improving their unstable technology and turning the tide of the epic holy war.

Based on the comic book series by Ben Dunn, Warrior Nun was developed for television by Simon Barry and stars Alba Baptista and Tristan Ulloa. The series is available to stream now on Netflix.
