"In the last year, there were reports of over 3800 anti-Asian racist incidents across America. And anti-Asian hate crimes have soared by 150% in major U.S. cities. We all can help," WarnerMedia said in a tweet, which was followed by information on how to donate to the cause. WarnerMedia has also partnered with AT&T to donate $7 million to "further justice for the AAPI [Asian American Pacific Islander] community."

Following the release of Zack Snyder's four-hour-long cut of Justice League, diehard fans have ignited a #RestoreTheSnyderVerse movement, which calls for the completion of the director's original vision for the DC Extended Universe. Part of this movement involves "boycotting" Warner Bros. altogether.

The most recent act of protest from the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse movement occurred when fans review-bombed the IMDb page of Godzilla vs. Kong with 1-star reviews in an attempt to disrupt the WarnerBros. film's overall rating. Though Godzilla vs. Kong has not yet been released in the United States, the film currently holds a 7.5/10 IMDb score, is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and recently earned the largest international box-office debut during the COVID-19 pandemic at the time of writing.

WarnerMedia CEO Anne Sarnoff has publicly addressed the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse campaign, saying, "We're always going to listen to our fans, but we are in service of the broadest fanbase and we owe them an integrated, holistic strategy... For certain fans that want singular voices, they may be disappointed, but we would ask them to be patient and see what we’ve got in store because perhaps the newer voices in the mix will have just as compelling stories to tell."

DC recently joined WarnerMedia in condemning anti-Asian racism following a series of violent attacks against Asian people in the United States. "We're joining our WarnerMedia family to stand with the AAPI community in condemning the recent rise in anti-Asian hate crimes, as well as all racist acts," the statement read. "Hate has no home here. Our stories wouldn't exist without diverse voices and perspectives. We condemn racism and xenophobia in all its forms, including the rise of anti-Asian hate crimes in recent weeks and since the Covid-19 pandemic began."

For those interested in donating, the Asian American Chamber of Commerce assists Asian American businesses that have been impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and Asian Americans Advancing Justice is an organization that advocates for the civil and human rights of Asian Americans.
