The new company created through the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery Inc. will receive a brand-new name.
According to THR, Discovery Chief Executive Officer David Zaslav revealed that a new name has been chosen for the combination of WarnerMedia and Discovery that will be revealed to the public within the next few weeks.
Zaslav also made sure to emphasize that Discovery would not be ignoring its own companies in the lead-up to the merger. "Until the deal closes we will fight to build the best Discovery on a parallel track," he explained. However, the prospect of combining the two companies does fill Zaslav with hope for what's ahead. "We think together, the combination makes us the best media company in the world," he continued. "We will be one company, one culture, one mission: Great stories, great content that entertains people in every country around the world."
It was recently announced that AT&TÂ would merge the entertainment division of WarnerMedia to Discovery Inc. This puts labels like Warner Bros. and HBO, among many others, under the ownership of the company most famous for running TV channels like the Food Network, TLC and the Oprah Winfrey Network. This development comes just under three years after AT&T bought Time Warner for $85 billion.
