Warner Bros. Seeks Crew's Help on "The Iron Giant" Documentary

The Iron Giant, Brad Bird's animated 1999 classic, is stomping back into theaters on September 20th for a limited time. Those who miss the theatrical engagement will still get a chance to see the remastered film with its two new scenes, however, as a Blu-ray release has also been confirmed.

In addition, Cartoon Brew has learned that Warner Bros. is seeking to put together a brand new documentary for the special features section, and they want the film's original crew to help. The studio has already tapped Emmy Award-winning documentarian Anthony Giacchino ("The Camden 28") to helm the piece, having previously captured the behind-the-scenes stories of Bird's Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and Tomorrowland. To flesh out the film, though, WB has reached out to crew members who have any stories, photos, or videos from their time working on "The Iron Giant:"

"Did you work on The Iron Giant? Do you have a good story to tell or perhaps photos/videos to share about your time on the film? Please help us document the true and definitive story of how this seminal animated feature was made. Email: irongiantdocumentary@gmail.com."

There's no word on when the Blu-ray release of The Iron Giant: Signature Edition will be, though a digital rollout is planned for the fall. Below, watch a trailer for the theatrical re-release of this beloved cartoon.
