Zack Snyder said a potential return to the DC Universe has yet to be discussed with Warner Bros. Discovery amid the change of leadership at DC Studios.

Snyder spoke with The Preston & Steve Show on 93.3 WMMR in Philadelphia where he addressed the possibility of re-entering the DCU. When asked, Snyder said no one has reached out, but he looks forward to seeing their upcoming movies. "As far I know, which is very little, I'm doing my thing and haven't had anyone give me a call or anything," he said. "I'm just wishing them all the best and hoping they make some cool movies." The acclaimed filmmaker also said he's happy with the content he's working on and reiterated his best wishes to Warner Bros. Discovery.

Speculation about a DCU return for the director has been amplified following the naming of James Gunn and Peter Safran as co-heads of DC Studios. Gunn, who previously directed movies for Marvel, and Safran will be in charge of Warner Bros. Discovery's live-action and animated superhero films and TV shows. Snyder has worked with Gunn previously and the two are said to be on friendly terms, hence, why the possibility of a DCU return for Snyder has been brought up.

Zack Snyder's DCEU Is No More

Zack Snyder last featured in the DCU while directing the 2017 superhero film Justice League, which starred Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman) and Gal Gadot (Wonderwoman). However, Snyder left the production in May of that year following the death of his daughter, Autumn. Joss Whedon stepped into the director's chair to complete the film, but Snyder later created his version of the movie. Zack Snyder's Justice League aka the Snyder Cut, was released on HBO Max in March 2021. The Snyder Cut will also get its first theatrical release in 2023 as part of a series of screenings and Q&A sessions called Directly Responsible: Face to Face With Filmmakers.

Snyder's previous DCU work includes the 2013 film Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, which, along with Justice League, were part of a planned five-movie arc of a collective superhero universe, the DC Extended Universe. His fans have been aggressively pushing for a DC return to complete his arc as well as pushing the studio to endorse the Snyder Cut.
