There is a new challenger in the world of platform fighters. MultiVersus is Warner Bros.'s entry in the ever-growing genre. For anyone wondering what Space Jam would look like if it was a slugfest instead of a basketball tournament, look no further; MultiVersus is a free-to-play platform fighter that features characters from across the Warner Bros. multiverse, including prolific IPs such as Batman, Bugs Bunny, and more.
So far, MultiVersus has 21 confirmed playable characters, with more on the way. The roster encompasses classic shows like Tom and Jerry and modern IPs like Game of Thrones, and each MultiVersus character has a unique fighting style. Here is the rundown of who's who in MultiVersus.
Scooby Doo's Shaggy Sheds His Cowardice in MultiVersus
Although he is entering the ring without the Mystery Gang, Norville Rogers, commonly referred to as Shaggy, has joined the fighting arena. Shaggy first appeared in Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! in 1969 and has been solving mysteries with Scooby the gang ever since. According to his backstory, Shaggy was investigating a spooky mansion, as he tends to do, when he came across a glowing crystal he mistook for rock candy. Now, he has supernatural powers and vows to defeat whatever evil forces come his way.
Reindog Is a MultiVersus Original Character
It is okay not to recognize Reindog, as he's a MultiVersus original. According to his bio, he is the Guardian of Zanifeer and is the sixth entity to wear the Gem of Power. His world, Zanifeer, was one of the first to fall victim to the "Nothing" during the great dimensional cataclysm. The "Nothing" appears to be the force that brings all of the dimensions in MultiVersus together, so Reindog may be an important story character down the line. As the protector of the Royal Family of his planet, Reindog is a loyal warrior who will do whatever it takes to protect those that he loves.
Steven Universe Steps Up to Protect the Multiverse
First appearing in the show of the same name, Steven Universe is a hybrid of a human and a magical, extraterrestrial being known as a Gem. Raised by the Crystal Gems, Garnet, Pearl and Amethyst hid out on Earth until he became a teenager and discovered he had his own powers. After learning he could grow into a hero of his own, he set out to be a hero and would go on to defend the universe with his closest friends. Steven will always save the day with his unrelenting optimism and the help of the people he loves.

A fusion of the Gems Ruby and Sapphire, Garnet is the leader of the Crystal Gems. Along with Steven, Garnet and the Crystal Gems are a team that has sworn to protect Earth from invaders who would do it harm. Garnet is considered one of the most stable Gem fusions in existence, and it shows with her dedication to her team and being a general powerhouse. She comes across as stoic and unfeeling, but she will stop at nothing to protect her loved ones.

Harley Quinn first appeared in the comic book Batman: Harley Quinn #1 in 1999. Hailing from Gotham, psychiatrist Dr. Harleen Quinzel never recovered after falling in love with The Joker. She adopted the persona of Harley Quinn and spent many years by Joker's side until she found the courage to leave him and strike up the life of a solo criminal. Always full of surprises, she has occasionally found herself doing good and fighting side-by-side with teams like the Suicide Squad.

This training would transform Arya into a skilled swordswoman and change the fate of Westeros.

Finn the Human is the protagonist of Adventure Time, and he kicks the buns of evildoers with his best pal Jake the Dog. He has an adventurous spirit, and he loves being a hero in the Land of Ooo. He has saved multiple princesses and defeated evil wizards, among other achievements. Despite his resolve to fight evil, he is still just a fun-loving kid, so he spends his downtime with friends or playing video games in his treehouse home.

As he matured, he learned that Earth's yellow sun gave him superpowers that he could use to protect the world. Now, with the help of the Justice League, he protects Earth from domestic and extraterrestrial threats.

Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman, first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in 1939. Bruce led a privileged life as a young boy living with his loving family on the outskirts of Gotham City. On that day, the young boy swore a vendetta against the crime that corrupted his city, took on the persona of Batman, and eventually helped form the Justice League. Thomas Jasper "Tom" Cat, Sr. & Gerald Jinx "Jerry" Mouse have been at odds since their debut in 1940. They can use their abilities to accomplish just about anything -- although they typically use them to beat up one another during their games of cat-and-mouse. It will be interesting to see how they put aside their differences in MultiVersus to fight as a duo. Working together, the cat and mouse may prove to be an unstoppable pair.
Velma from Scooby-Doo Is a Fast Thinker
Velma Dinkley, with her well-honed mystery-solving abilities at the ready, is prepared for battle (as long as she doesn't lose her glasses). The game confirmed Velma as a playable character in March through its Twitter account, but it was only recently that players could see her in action. She is well-known for being Mystery Inc's leading bookworm and super sleuth, but she will soon show the world that she can hold her own in a fight if need be.
The Tazmanian Devil Has an Appetite for Destruction in MultiVersus
Taz is known for causing a ruckus wherever he goes, and the MultiVersus arena is the perfect place for him to let loose. Introduced in the 1950s, only Bugs and Tom & Jerry predate this wild fellow, making him the third-oldest property represented in the game so far. He is the perfect choice for an all-out brawl with his crazy attacks and wicked temper -- but will the other fighters be able to tame the beast?
The Iron Giant Fights to Impress Superman in MultiVersus
The 1999 movie, The Iron Giant, introduced the world to the metallic marvel of the same name. The Iron Giant originally crashlanded off the shore of Rockwell, Maine, after which he suffered from amnesia. Despite being lost and directionless, the Iron Giant was found by a young boy named Hogarth Hughes. The two quickly became best friends, and Hogarth helped him find his purpose. The Iron Giant is now a defender of the innocent and does his best to emulate his hero, Superman, and thanks to MultiVersus, he will even be able to see his idol in action for the first time.
LeBron James Joined MultiVersus After Space Jam: A New Legacy
Unlike the other characters in MultiVersus, LeBron James hails from our world. Sort of. This interpretation of James is lifted from the movie Space Jam: A New Legacy, where he teamed up with Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Tune Squad and played a basketball game to save his son from the artificial intelligence known as "Al-G Rhythm." He is still a winner of multiple NBA titles, MVPs, and Olympic Gold medals, but he is also good friends with the Looney Tunes. Who says cartoons are for kids?

Rick Sanchez of Rick and Morty is simultaneously the smartest and most wanted man in the universe. Rick has the potential to be the most influential being in all of reality -- he just has to stop being a selfish, egocentric, nihilistic drunk first.

A rule-breaking Mogwai whose antics turned into a dangerous gremlin, Stripe is a lover of chaos and mayhem. He loves nothing more than wreaking havoc wherever he goes, which suggests he fits into MultiVersus perfectly. With special moves like Sharpshooter and Dynamite Boo, he'd do just about anything to defeat his father and arch-nemesis Gizmo--assuming he doesn't blow himself to bits in the process.
DC's Black Adam Is a Powerhouse

Fortunately for mortals, from time to time his needs force him to ally with the world's heroes out to save the day. The suffering Black Adam has endured in his lifetime made him a hardened, calculating ruler, suggesting the best approach is to stay off his bad side when battling for the Multiverse.
Gizmo Joined MultiVersus to Stop Stripe
With the epic power of song in his corner, Mogwai support character Gizmo joined the battle for the Multiverse in hopes of stopping his offspring, Stripe. Throughout the course of his incredibly long life, Gizmo has always been a hero, working hard to right the wrongs in the world--especially if those wrongs have been brought on by his own gremlin-corrupted children. With his iconic bow weapon and power moves like Gizmo-A-Go-Go, Gizmo's powers were so epic, they were nerfed shortly after his addition to the game.
Marvin the Martian Launches MultiVersus Season Two
The only character confirmed so far for Season Two is Marvin the Martian from Looney Tunes. Hailing from Mars and bent on destroying Earth, Marvin is MultiVersus' newest Assassin. Season Two will also feature a new map, network and latency improvements, a brand new Battle Pass, and more unannounced characters.
