Warner Bros. Acknowledges Green Lantern's Failure in Light of Deadpool 2

WARNING: The following article contains major spoilers for Deadpool 2, in theaters now.

Ryan Reynolds doesn't exactly look back fondly on his stint as Hal Jordan in 2011's Green Lantern, going as far as grading the film a one out of ten in a past interview, and cracking jokes about the animated Green Lantern suit in the first Deadpool film. Now that Reynolds is truly at home as the Merc with a Mouth in a superhero franchise, Warner Bros. acknowledged their failure with Green Lantern.

Warner Bros. acknowledged Green Lantern's failure in light of Deadpool 2 by posting a pic of Ryan Reynolds in the film with the Green Lantern Ring hovering over his outstretched hand, and the caption, "We tried to put a ring on it! #GreenLantern." Green Lantern was largely panned by critics and fans alike, garnering a 26% score on Rotten Tomatoes with an average rating of 4.6/10, meanwhile both Deadpool films have been 'Certified Fresh', scoring 83% and 84%, respectively.

Deadpool 2 took the Green Lantern jokes to a whole other level during the mid-credits sequence when Deadpool goes back in time and kills Ryan Reynolds after he reads and approves the script for the film, while saying, "You're welcome, Canada." Not to mention, going back in time and killing the Wade Wilson from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it's no wonder many are calling the mid-credits sequence in Deadpool 2 the "best after-credits scene in movie history."

In theaters now, director David Leitch’s Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Zazie Beetz as Domino, Julian Dennison as Russell and Josh Brolin as Cable.
