Vixen may be the next DC superhero to receive her own film.

According to The GWW, Warner Bros. is in early development on a DC Extended Universe film project with Vixen as the lead character. However, the film may end up on HBO Max due to the current slate of DC films being delayed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. An additional source claims Warner Bros. is looking to replicate the success of Marvel Studios' Black Panther, believing Vixen can have a similar impact.

Created by Gerry Conway and Bob Oksner, Mari McCabe/Vixen debuted in Action Comics #521 in 1981. The character possesses the Tantu Totem, which was passed down from generation to generation by her ancestors and allows its user to harness the spirits -- and abilities -- of animals. Vixen has served on several incarnations of the Justice League, including Justice League Detroit and Justice League International.

Vixen has shown up in animation, particularly Justice League Unlimited, where she was voiced by Gina Torres. Megalyn Echikunwoke also portrayed Vixen in an animated miniseries and would later reprise the role in live-action for Arrow, with Maisie Richardson-Sellers playing her grandmother Amaya in Legends of Tomorrow.
