UPDATE: Amazon issued CBR with an official statement regarding the Fire TV devices, noting that the problem has been solved. "There was an issue with the HBO Max app which affected a small number of users attempting to watch House of the Dragon on a subset of Fire TV devices. We’ve worked with HBO to resolve it, and HBO has pushed out a fix resolving the issue."

As House of the Dragon hit streaming recently, thousands of HBO Max users found themselves unable to enjoy the series. Warner Bros. has blamed Amazon devices for the app's failure.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, over 3,000 HBO Max subscribers complained about experiencing technical issues as they attempted to watch House of the Dragon. In a statement, a spokesperson said, "House of the Dragon is being successfully viewed by millions of HBO Max subscribers this evening... We're aware of a small portion of users attempting to connect via Fire TV devices that are having issues and are in the process of resolving for those impacted users."

Audiences who managed to catch the first episode of the fantasy series have generally praised House of the Dragon for capturing the beloved qualities of Game of Thrones. They have also praised the performance of the show's cast, specifically Matt Smith, who has been singled out for his portrayal of Prince Daemon of the House Targaryen.

The predecessor show is based on George R.R. Martin's encyclopaedia-like novel, Fire & Blood, which details the rise and fall of the Targaryen dynasty in Westeros. The novel covers such a vast amount of time in the land's history that House of the Dragon co-showrunners recently hinted future seasons of the show may focus on a different era.

In an interview, co-showrunner Ryan Condal stated, "I think we have a fairly good plan laid out. Plans like that always have to be fairly broad, yet you have an idea of landmarks, and places that you want to go, and a sense of an end point, which I think is really important, particularly with this story." He went on to add, "There is really 300 years of Targaryen history to explore, and there are many stories within there that are really fascinating."

When it comes to the current story, Condal and Sapochnik have a clear vision for where House of the Dragon needs to go. Sapochnik teased, "We have a very, very precise idea of where we wanna go with it, but we can't tell you... We're in the middle of a history that is rich and full of stories to tell and it's a good place to start." At the time of writing, HBO has not yet greenlit House of the Dragon for a second season.

Episode 1 of House of the Dragon is available to watch now on HBO and HBO Max. New episodes of the series arrive every Sunday.
