James Rhodes, also known as War Machine, died early into Marvel Comics' 2016 crossover Civil War II during a confrontation with Thanos. However, people joke about death in comics for a reason: It's rarely permanent. The new solicitation text for Dan Slott and Valerio Schiti's Tony Stark: Iron Man #2 teases the possibility of Rhodey returning to life.

You can read the solicit for Tony Stark: Iron Man #2 and see Alexander Lozano's cover for the issue below.

STARK REALITIES!

• Tony has been holding back an enormous secret since his return, and there’s only one person on Earth he’d trust it with: James Rhodes. This will change everything.

• A strange new development for Jocasta, the return of the Gauntlet and the arrival of Tony Stark’s new rival, Sunset Bain. All this and the power of the Manticore, the most powerful assault vehicle in the Marvel Universe!

32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

There's a good chance that Rhodey won't return to life in this particular issue, so expect his resurrection -- if it does happen -- to take a while. It's also entirely possible that this arc won't end with Rhodey's return or that the character will reappear in some as of yet unknown form. Rhodey's return will also likely have an effect on Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, as she was engaged in a romantic relationship with him at the time of his death.

Tony Stark: Iron Man #1 will arrive in June, with Tony Stark: Iron Man #2 likely hitting shelves in July.
