Fox has just released a new trailer for "War for the Planet of the Apes," the third installment in the latest reboot of the "Planet of the Apes" series.

“War for…” continues to tell the story of the intelligent ape Caesar, (performed via motion capture by Andy Serkis) as he leads his army of smart simians against a deadly assault from human forces led by the Colonel (Woody Harrelson.)

The new film is directed by Matt Reeves from a script by Mark Bomback, both of whom worked on the previous film in the series, 2014's “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.”

Opening July 14, 2017, "War for" picks up the story two years after the events of the previous movie, with the apes retreating to Muir Woods National Monument north of San Francisco in the aftermath of the killing of Koba by Caesar. In that time, they have suffered tremendously at the hands of the Colonel and his troops, whom Reeves has said will to go to great lengths “to create a world where things can be gentle again.”

“War for the Planet of the Apes” stars Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Judy Greer, Steve Zahn, Karin Konoval, Amiah Miller and Terry Notary.
