'War For the Planet of the Apes' Logo Revealed, 'Announcement' Teased

Director Matt Reeves has revealed the logo for "War For the Planet of the Apes," and dropped a hint that suggest we could see the first footage from the Fox sequel this weekend.

"Tune in to @WalkingDead_AMC Sunday night for a special #WarForTheApes announcement," he wrote today on Twitter.

Details about the follow-up to 2014's "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" have been difficult to come by. We know that it stars Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Gabriel Chavarria and Judy Greer, and that Reeves wrote the script with Mark Bomback. The director also teased last year that the sequel would cement Caesar's "status as a seminal figure in ape history," leading him to "become like a mythic ape figure, like Moses."

Beyond that, though, we haven't been given much to go on.

"War For the Planet of the Apes" opens July 14, 2017.
