Disney+ is already generating a lot of buzz. Though the streaming service hasn’t launched yet -- in fact, there’s not a confirmed launch date yet -- the announcements for their exclusive shows have been exciting. Because of all the studios owned by the House of Mouse, Disney+ will be releasing Star Wars and Marvel shows. Among these are a Cassian Andor series with Diego Luna returning to the role, set before the events of Rogue One. The Marvel Studios announcements have been just as exciting with a Loki show, as well as a show starring Scarlet Witch and Vision. The last we saw Scarlet Witch and Vision, one just had an Infinity Stone torn from his head while the other was a victim of Thanos’s snap. Therefore, it’s unknown what time period this show will be set in.

In the Marvel films, Scarlet Witch’s journey has been fraught with tragedy and learning how to control her powers. Vision has been on a journey of understanding humanity and what it means to be someone’s partner. The rumored title for the upcoming show is Vision and the Scarlet Witch, which was also the title of two comic series from the '90s about the two characters. There’s a lot of potential for this show. With Avengers: Endgame releasing in April 2019, this is a good time for a change as we set our sights on the MCU’s future. There is a lot that the new show can draw from, both in the films and comics. However, here at CBR, we already know 10 things we want to see in the show and 10 things we don’t.

20 WANT: AN ACTUAL JARVIS

Agent Carter Peggy Carter and Jarvis

A live-action Jarvis is not new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the Agent Carter series, Mr. Edwin Jarvis works for Howard Stark and becomes Peggy’s companion on her various missions. While Tony’s Jarvis was destroyed by Ultron (and helped create Vision in the process), this doesn’t mean that we can’t have another human Jarvis.

In the Vision and the Scarlet Witch comics, Jarvis comes to their new house in New Jersey to help them settle in as a favor from Tony. In the upcoming show, he or she could be a descendent of Edwin Jarvis from Agent Carter. It would be a fun way to connect the shows of the MCU.

19 DON’T WANT: COW NANNY

An image of Bova nursing Quicksilver back to health in Marvel Comics

In the new show, we would expect to learn more about Wanda’s past, especially her childhood since there’s a lot of baggage there. However, in the comics, Scarlet Witch has a literal cow nanny that protected her and Pietro when they were babies. Her name was Bova (as in bovine).

This is definitely one of the weirder parts of Scarlet Witch’s past, and it’s one that’s unnecessary for us to delve into in the show. How can we take her seriously if she starts talking about the magical talking cow that helped raise her and her brother? Plus, there’s already enough material about her parents in the comics that we don’t need to mention the nanny.

18 WANT: PIETRO FLASHBACKS

Wanda and Pietro Maximoff were introduced in the MCU as powerful twins, and it’s hard when that bond is broken. Considering what they went through together, such as the end of their parents as detailed by them in Age of Ultron, it’s important that we still acknowledge that bond.

Because Pietro/Quicksilver passed away in Age of Ultron, the only way to see him again is in flashbacks. In a cinematic universe full of interesting characters, it would’ve been difficult to justify this in any of the films. However, a TV show focusing on Scarlet Witch would be the perfect opportunity to delve into this sibling relationship and Wanda’s loss.

17 DON’T WANT: ANTI-VISION

Marvel Comics has established that there are multiple universes. The reality that we’re in is the mainstream Earth-616. While the Marvel comics have been known to delve into their other universes, this isn’t something we need on the show. This includes the evil version of Vision, Anti-Vision from Earth-932.

Branching out into the other universes early on would be too much for a new show to handle. The show should focus on developing its star characters further than what was done in the films, including their relationship. If evil Vision has to show up in the show, we would hope that it’s after all the necessary development to justify widening the show’s scope to include other universes.

16 WANT: THE WEST COAST AVENGERS

west coast avengers

In the '80s, Vision and Scarlet Witch are a part of the West Coast Avengers team that was founded by Hawkeye. This was a logical move since it allows the Avengers to have a presence on two coasts. The series quickly became popular, and recently enjoys new popularity with the 2018 series written by Kelly Thompson.

At minimum, the West Coast Avengers would be a fun cameo. If Vision and Scarlet Witch choose to live in New Jersey as they did in the comics, the West Coast Avengers wouldn’t really have a reason to be there. But we would love it if the Vision and Scarlet Witch show was a way to introduce the West Coast Avengers and act as a springboard for their own series!

15 DON’T WANT: VISION MORE MACHINE THAN MAN

If the series takes place post-Infinity War, Vision would be in recovery. He could potentially be more machine than man if he has lost his emotions with the Mind Stone. If it’s up to Scarlet Witch to rehabilitate him, this would be a disservice to her character. We hope that the starting point would be Vision continuing to grasp what it means to be an artificial being.

Vision trying to understand humans a little more gives the series a lot of opportunity for comedic moments. Yes, Vision is very knowledgeable, but practical experience is another thing entirely. We’re hoping for a similar vibe that Supergirl currently has with Brainy’s character.

14 WANT: FATHER FIGURE FOR WANDA

Whizzer

Pietro and Wanda say that their parents perished but in the comics, their parentage is a lot more complicated. First, they were the children of Robert Frank, aka Whizzer, another superhero. Then, this was retconned to Magneto being their father. This was retconned again in the 2010s with Pietro and Wanda being the subjects of genetic experimentation, which is closest to the MCU version.

Regardless, Scarlet Witch hasn’t had stability in her family life for a while. It would be nice to see a father figure in her life. A fun reference could be her meeting an older man named Robert Frank with whom she strikes up a friendship.

13 DON’T WANT: WANDA CONTROLS VISION’S BODY

Wanda attacking Vision

A pivotal moment in Wanda and Vision’s relationship was in Captain America: Civil War. Scarlet Witch asserted her right to make her own decisions and left the Avengers bunker with Hawkeye. In effect, she also left Vision’s flavorless soup and his restrictions on her.

To do this, she had to overpower Vision. Now that we’ve seen this once, we don’t really need to see it again. In the Avengers vs. X-Men comics, Wanda literally controls Vision’s body. While Wanda is clearly more powerful than Vision, to keep their relationship healthy, she shouldn’t use them to control him. Unless it’s with his consent.

12 WANT: DOCTOR STRANGE CROSSOVER

Doctor Strange Shield Hands

Doctor Strange is a powerful magic user in Marvel Comics. Scarlet Witch is just about at his level. In fact, in one New Avengers story, Wanda is a candidate for Sorcerer Supreme. And, in Doctor Strange’s “The Last Days of Magic” arc, Scarlet Witch helps him to defeat the Empirikul.

Though Benedict Cumberbatch is a busy actor, we would love to see a Doctor Strange cameo in the Vision and the Scarlet Witch TV show. We don’t know as of yet if we’ll see them team up in Avengers: Endgame, so this would be one way to get a cool crossover.

11 DON’T WANT: “HOUSE OF M” REALITY

House of M

If we were to point at one event in Marvel Comics’ history to show the extent of Scarlet Witch’s powers, it would be the “House of M” storyline. She wills her children back into existence and creates a reality where the mutant to human ratio is flipped. This was really Pietro’s idea, but Wanda was so broken with the loss of her children that she did what he asked.

The "House of M" Reality would be interesting to see as a future film to bring in the X-Men and whatever remaining Avengers together. For a TV show, however, the task is too daunting. There would be way too many characters, and realities, to juggle. A story as epic as "House of M" is much more appropriate for an epic film versus the budget of a streaming service's TV show.

10 WANT: WANDA’S MOTHER

Scarlet Witch Natalya Maximoff

Scarlet Witch’s parents are gone in the MCU, but there’s more mystery surrounding Wanda and Pietro’s parents in the comics. In the Scarlet Witch solo series by James Robinson, Wanda learns that her biological mother is a Romany woman named Natalya Maximoff, who also went by the moniker Scarlet Witch.

Natalya is blood relatives with the couple who eventually took in Wanda and Pietro for a bit, Django and Marya Maximoff. Wanda thought Marya had perished, but she finds that she didn’t. So Wanda has two potential mother figures to meet on the show: one in real life and one on “Witches’ Road,” a dimension that only witches can access.

9 DON’T WANT: A CONTROLLING VISION

It’s not uncommon for men to feel “less than” in the presence of powerful women. Vision is powerful in his own right, of course, but we’ve already seen in films like Civil War that he would clip Wanda’s wings for her “safety.”

We hope that this doesn’t become a dynamic on this show. This is a tired character trait that we’ve seen in shows as far back as I Love Lucy. We want Vision to not only be comfortable with Wanda’s powers, which he seems to be in Infinity War, but to encourage her in exploring them further.

8 WANT: VISION UPGRADED TO NANOBOTS

In Infinity War, we saw that Tony Stark had upgraded his suit by using nanotechnology. So instead of waiting around for his suit to find him, he always has access to his suit. The suit can also heal itself and is flexible in doing whatever Tony wants.

In the Avengers A.I. comics, Vision is upgraded to nanobots, which he could benefit from in the MCU. He will need to be rebuilt somehow, either by using Stark technology or Shuri technology. Since there’s a precedent for nanotech in the films and comics, it’d be cool to see Vision being made of nanobots.

7 DON’T WANT: A WEDDING

Weddings of comic book characters, especially superheroes, don’t always go well. This goes for in the comics as well as TV shows. For example, Barry and Iris’s wedding in last year’s Arrowverse crossover had literal war criminals crashing it.

Because of this, we don’t want to see a Vision and Scarlet Witch wedding. Too much could go wrong, and their relationship has already been through a lot. Like, he’s gone already. For the show, Vision and Wanda could be committed to each other without being legally married (which is common today), or the show could begin after they’ve gotten married.

6 WANT: MAGNETO

Now that Disney has acquired 20th Century Fox, the question remains: how will the X-Men be rebooted in the MCU? One natural way of doing this is having Magneto show up in the Vision and the Scarlet Witch show.

For a while in the comics, Wanda and Pietro believed that Magneto was their real father. This was later disproved, since they are not mutants, but we haven’t seen this reveal in the MCU versions of these characters. With Pietro gone, Wanda may be willing to cling to anyone claiming to be her blood relative, even if it is someone as dark as Magneto.

5 DON’T WANT: THE TWINS

Scarlet-Witch-Twins

In the comics, Scarlet Witch magically gets pregnant while married to Vision and has twin sons. Later on, Vision’s humanity disappears, and it’s revealed that her sons are parts of the demon Mephisto’s soul. With the help of Agatha Harkness, another powerful witch, the sons are absorbed back into Mephisto, and Wanda loses the memories of having children.

Later on, Wanda regains these memories. Finding out your children were literally erased from existence is difficult, to say the least. There are many ways to create emotional conflict on a show that doesn’t rely on the female character having and losing kids.

4 WANT: AGATHA HARKNESS

Agatha Harkness Scarlet Witch

Wanda has been alone with her powers for a while in the MCU. To get herself to the next level, she needs a mentor. Her comics version has one, and her name is Agatha Harkness.

The Agatha Harkness character is flexible because she doesn’t even have to be a living person. In the Scarlet Witch solo series, Agatha is a ghost that still helps Scarlet Witch with her problems and gives her advice. Even in ghost form, Agatha can cast spells. While Agatha has betrayed her in the character’s past, it would be interesting to see this friendship develop in the TV show.

3 DON’T WANT: ULTRON RETURNS

While we are pretty sure we’re done with Ultron in the MCU, this wasn’t the case in the comics. As we know, Ultron had a hand in Vision’s creation in both the comics and Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, in the comics, Ultron later regains control of Vision to rebuild himself.

Later, in a "Secret Empire" storyline, Ultron has melded with Hank Pym and infected Vision with an A.I. virus. Ultron is bad news all-around for Vision. However, unless Marvel guarantees that James Spader would be back for the role, Ultron’s return wouldn’t be that attention-grabbing. The MCU has already moved to villains who are so much more powerful.

2 WANT: DARK MAGIC DETECTIVE SHOW

The Scarlet Witch solo series from 2015 had an interesting premise that would be perfect for a TV adaptation. Something is wrong with witchcraft, and Scarlet Witch is on the hint to find the cure for it. In the process, she solves crimes and kicks lots of butt with her magic.

Meanwhile, the more she uses her magic, the more it takes a toll on her. She has aged dramatically, but it can only be seen when she looks in the mirror. Scarlet Witch going on cases and trying to solve the mystery of what’s wrong with magic would be a great TV show with Vision as her love interest and sidekick.

1 DON’T WANT: WANDA’S FAMOUS REVENGE RAMPAGE

Wanda’s most dramatic use of her powers takes place right before she creates the “House of M” reality. In her grief from finding out about her erased children, she turns on her former friends. She decimates Agatha Harkness and mortally wounds or incapacitates many of the Avengers.

It would be difficult to see something like this out of a protagonist for a show. We also don’t know the state the Avengers will be in after Endgame. Granted, this show could take place in a timeline before Endgame, but seeing a bunch of Avengers perish (again) would be rough on the viewer.
