WandaVision star Paul Bettany teased fans with the promise that a surprise cameo would appear in the show, rivaling that of Luke Skywalker's appearance in The Mandalorian's Season 2 finale. The real surprise was Bettany acting alongside Bettany as dual Visions.

Co-star Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda) shared her take on Bettany's tease, telling THR, "Paul said something about this crazy cameo when he was really just talking about doing a scene with himself, and I know Paul thought that was a really funny joke and I thought it was funny."

The actor added, "But I was like, I think people are actually going to suspect that there is more to come."

WandaVision fan theories of who would appear in the Disney+ series circulated far and wide after Bettany's statement, naming characters like the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to Scarlet Witch's canon father Magneto (Ian McKellen).

"I knew that there are theories that had to do with people wanting more surprises in cameos," Olsen said. "But I’m not really that aware of what these fan theories were, so I’m kind of learning about it as we go."

Episode 9 of WandaVision, "The Series Finale," saw Bettany's Westview Vision acting alongside a reborn MCU Vision -- robbed of any/all memories before his creation. Westview's Vision coached the new Vision to access his deep memory storage to relive all that MCU fans know of Vision's past. After regaining his memories, The Vision declared himself the true version of himself and soared away from both Wanda and Westview.

Bettany later told fans he'd be "in" for more Vision stories, stating, "How do I do this without spoilers? I guess we've seen what happens to Wanda when love is taken away from her. And I wonder what that would look like with Vision. I mean, that's the thing, right? I've never had a loved one to lose… I don't know what grief is because I've never had a loved one to lose."

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. New episodes air Fridays on Disney+.
