According to WandaVision star Paul Bettany, the show's finale will reframe the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe."I think [the audience is] going to be massively surprised by the end of the show," Bettany told Lights, Camera, Pod. "I mean, just... I really think people are going to be like, 'Oh My God!' And they're going to look at the MCU in a whole new light, and also have a much deeper understanding of what direction it's moving."Related: WandaVision's Olsen Explains What Triggers Wanda's Memory Return

WandaVision finds Wanda Maxmioff and Vision living as a married couple in the idyllic suburbs of Westview and trying to keep their superpowers a secret. While the show marks the start of the MCU's Phase 4, that wasn't always the intent. Originally, Phase 4 was meant to kick off with the movies Black Widow and Eternals, followed by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier TV series and then WandaVision. However, due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the MCU's entire 2020 slate was delayed and WandaVision ended up being the first new project to arrive.

All the same, WandaVision's finale is expected to have big implications for the rest of Phase 4. The series will dovetail into the events of the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with Wanda confirmed to play a key role in the film. It's speculated WandaVision will also connect to the untitled Spider-Man 3, which is heavily rumored to explore a multiverse story featuring actors from the pre-MCU Spider-Man movie trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man films.

Showrunner Jac Schaeffer has previously talked about WandaVision's pacing and slow-burn approach to revealing the truth about Westview. "[The pacing] was always a question. It was mapped out pretty thoroughly early on," Schaeffer said. "When I first got the job I reached out for advice, and a lot of the people that I spoke to were like, 'The pilot is so important because you're finding the voices and you're finding the story,' and that just does not apply to us. Because that's not what that is. Obviously, these characters have existed, so much of the mythology exists, and it was all mapped out like a feature."

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. New episodes air Fridays on Disney+.
