WARNING: The following contains spoilers for WandaVision Episode 4, "We Interrupt This Program," now streaming on Disney+.

While Paul Bettany's Vision tragically died at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans later took comfort in the knowledge that the character would return in the Disney+ television series, WandaVision. The series would focus on Wanda Maximoff and Vision as a couple, and it would give both characters the chance to shine independently from the rest of the Avengers. Now that the series has nearly reached its halfway mark, it's truly great to see the Scarlet Witch and Vision back in the MCU, living a happy life together.

But not all is at it seems in the idyllic town of Westview, and if there's one thing the series' latest episode makes abundantly clear, it's that fans should be really worried about Vision.

WandaVision - Paul Bettany as Vision

The debut of WandaVision was akin to a celebration, given that it brought back two fan-favorite Avengers to the screen -- even if these two characters were trapped in some twisted, sitcom-inspired where darkness lurked behind the scenes. Now, the series' latest episode, "We Interrupt This Program," confirms that, beyond a doubt, this bubble reality is created and controlled by Wanda, which is extremely bad news for Vision.

In Episode 4, viewers briefly return to Wanda's world, but not in the context of a sitcom episode. For a moment, the illusion is dropped and Wanda is wrought with turmoil. She exiles Monica Rambeau out of her reality, and she removes all traces of the altercation just as Vision comes home. However, this isn't the Vision viewers have become accustomed to -- it's the walking, talking carcass that was last seen in Infinity War after Thanos removed the Mind Stone embedded in his forehead.

With the illusion dropped, it appears that Wanda reanimated Vision's corpse and changed his appearance to give him the appearance that he is bright and shiny. Therefore, Vision may not exactly be alive -- he could simply be a product of Wanda's reality -- which means this could really be the last time the character appears in the MCU.

Marvel has already confirmed that Maximoff will return in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, so her adventures will continue beyond WandaVision. But there has been zero mention of Vision beyond the Disney+ series, and a second season doesn't seem likely at this point. With everything that is going on with Wanda in Westview, it seems that WandaVision will inevitably end in tragedy, one that may see her finally having to let go of Vision.
