Marvel Cinematic Universe stars Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen shared their excitement over their upcoming WandaVision Disney+ series.Speaking to MTV, Bettany -- who plays Vision -- noted that he thought Marvel Studios was going to let him go, given his character's death in Avengers: Endgame. Instead, MCU head Kevin Feige pitched "this idea for a sort of six hour movie," one for which both Bettany and Olsen seem very excited.RELATED: WandaVision: How Vision Returns Is Just One of the Series' Many Mysteries

Bettany called the series "so avant-garde, and weird, and messed up." Olsen added that the pair "gets to play around with...a totally different genre," referring to the idea of a "sitcom universe," as the show has been described since its inception.

Olsen also revealed Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness is still being written. As such, details about her role -- and Bettany's -- in that film are scant.

At D23 Expo, Marvel and Disney executives also teased a second phase of shows, which focus on Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and She-Hulk.

WandaVision is set to premiere in Spring 2021 on Disney+, just ahead of the Benedict Cumerbatch-led Doctor Strange sequel.
