Wanda Maximoff’s power set is a wonderous thing, if a little nebulous. She’s gone from energy blasts that untied bad guys’ shoes and caused their weapons to misfire, to rewriting the history of the world in the 57 years since her introduction. Between her on and off again mutation, her ties to Chthon, the demon that marked her from birth, and her hand-to-hand training with Captain America, the Scarlet Witch is not a woman to be underestimated.

But what are these powers that she has? In the MCU, viewers are only given a taste of what she is capable of in the comics, though WandaVision promises to show more of what she can do. The options are nearly endless with Wanda, but these are the strangest options the comics have shown.

10 Power Augmentation

Wanda has the ability to power up her teammates, letting them pack more of a punch. This ability is more effective with energy-based powers, but it’s possible that the effect could enhance her non-powered teammates as well. This is likely an effect of her probability manipulation ability.

While there are other mutants with powers that affect others' abilities, most of the time they negate the powers of other mutants. Wanda’s power boost makes her a great teammate. Of course, if she uses their own powers against them, as she did with Vision in Captain America: Civil War, that's another story entirely.

9 Probability Manipulation

In the beginning, Wanda’s ability to cause unlikely things to happen was fairly limited. Guns backfired, foes tripped over nothing, and other poorly timed mishaps befell those who tangled with the Scarlet Witch. Eventually this ability evolved, becoming something else entirely.

This ability has grown and developed over her history, but her original hex bolts are still the most recognizable of her powers. While most characters like Black Cat and Domino who have similar abilities call it an enhanced form of luck, Wanda’s probability manipulation is far more active and focused.

8 Reality Warping

Probability manipulation's big brother, this ability allows her to warp all reality to her specifications. The most obvious uses of this power were in Avengers: Disassembled, where she attacked her team with illusions and manipulations, the House of M event where she rewrote the history of the world and put mutants as the dominant species on the planet; and M-Day, when Wanda took the powers from most of the world’s mutants.

Some have speculated that this power is the source of WandaVision’s channel-hopping format and Wanda is consciously or unconsciously warping the reality around the town she’s in.

7 Chronokinesis

The manipulation of time is a dangerous game to play, but it is a tool in the Scarlet Witch’s tool belt. While her brother, Quicksilver, has done far more of this, using his super speed to manipulate the timeline in the Son of M series, Wanda has manipulated time in smaller, or at least more subtle, ways.

The most obvious use of this power might not have even been a conscious effort, as Wanda sent the souls of her sons, Billy and Tommy, into the past to be reborn.

6 Resurrection

While it’s not a power she flaunts, and it might be tied to her ability to warp reality, Wanda can raise the dead. She resurrected Pietro after his death during the House of M finale, and she brought back Cassie Lang. Arguably, Billy Kaplan and Tommy Sheppard’s existence is an act of resurrection as well, as Wanda used her powers to give her sons with Vision another life.

Though it might not have been a conscious effort, given Wanda’s mental state at the end of House of M, she also resurrected Clint Barton— twice— after his death at her hands, both in Avengers: Disassembled and House of M.

5 Teleportation

This is a power that Wanda’s son, Wiccan, uses more often than Wanda herself does, but she does have this ability and has used it to move Avengers to and from major conflicts. It’s unclear if she used these abilities during Avengers: Disassembled to summon the Kree force that attacked the Avengers, or if they were an illusion, but both options are a possibility.

Either way, she is able to cross long distances in the blink of an eye and take many teammates with her on these journeys.

4 Mental manipulation

Wanda has demonstrated an ability to deescalate tense situations. She does this, not through diplomacy— though she does try that too from time to time— but by putting the people she’s in conflict with to sleep. This ability worked on members of the X-Men during the Children’s Crusade arc, even those that usually have some immunity to telepathic attacks.

The MCU version of Wanda has a slightly different take on telepathic powers. Her abilities allowed her to send her targets into a memory spiral, reliving either the darkest moments of their past or their greatest fears.

3 Telekinesis

Moving things with one’s mind is a standard superhero shtick, and while her powers on this particular axis aren’t her strongest, she has the capacity to rip out a robot heart— so she’s still a telekinetic force to be reckoned with.

While it’s not a rare power in the 616, and nearly every other mutant or magic user can do this in the MCU so far, she is the only telekinetic that has been shown to have this ability without studying magic.

2 Magic

Usually having mutant abilities is enough for most, but Wanda’s ties to the world of magic are deep and almost as genetic as her other abilities. She has studied with Agatha Harkness, a witch who survived the Salem witch trials and worked for Mephisto. Wanda was even a contender for the new Sorcerer Supreme when Stephen Strange lost the position. In her solo series, she learned that her magic abilities are a family tradition, inherited from her mother.

The MCU version’s powers haven’t been tapped into in this way yet, but WandaVision could show viewers what she’s capable of, or her upcoming turn in Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness might show her studying alongside the good doctor.

1 Nexus Being

Wanda exists as the anchor for reality in the 616. This grants her unlimited access to reality. It's more of a status than a power, but it has figured into her ability to tap into the Life Force and work her magic in huge ways. Many have tried to tap into this power, and a few have managed to manipulate or bargain with Wanda to share this power. Notably, Doctor Doom used her to tap into the Life Force, intending to rework the universe in his image. With the help of her children and the other Young Avengers, Wanda managed to stop him.

This ability or status doesn’t seem to have many active uses. It is more of a protective responsibility for Wanda to keep an eye on the universe’s reality and keep those who would make her mistakes from ripping it apart again.
