Though WandaVision finally allowed Wanda Maximoff to wear her iconic red crown, Marvel Studios' Director of Visual Development Andy Park revealed that he wanted to make it a feature of the character's early movie costume.

Park recently uploaded an early concept art of Wanda's costume design to his Instagram page, which featured a more rounded, headband-like crown whose dark red color matched her leather jacket and coat collar. "This is my attempt years ago to get something on Wanda's head that somewhat mimics her classic headdress/crown," he wrote. "I knew it wasn't gonna get any traction. But I couldn't resist! In her early appearances in the MCU the directors wanted somewhat more of a real world feel rather than a comic book costume feel... I'm so happy that's all changed!"

Though the headpiece never appeared in any Marvel Cinematic Universe film, WandaVision subtly hinted at Wanda wearing her iconic accessory beginning with her Sokovian fortune teller outfit in the episode "All-New Halloween Spooktacular!" which featured the cast wearing low-budget versions of their comic-accurate costumes. It then reappeared during Wanda's Hydra test subject flashback in "Previously On," revealing that, upon touching Loki's scepter, the Mind Stone gave her a vision of a woman wearing a similar article of clothing.

Finally, after using magical runes to strip Agatha of her ability to cast spells inside the Hex, Wanda's newfound mastery of chaos magic resulted in her gaining a new costume that included the Scarlet Witch crown atop her head. The crown and costume both made a final appearance in WandaVision's post-credit scene, which showed Wanda practicing new spells with the Darkhold.

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. The series is available to stream on Disney+.
