It might be surprising to realize WandaVision's Paul Bettany is entering his third decade as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe -- and Bettany himself is as surprised as anyone.

"I read this on Twitter -- I couldn't believe it was true," Bettany told Esquire. "So then I checked it and turns out, it's true."

"I'm hurtling towards 50 years old, so it was kind of an unpleasant feeling to us," the incredulous Bettany continues. "Three decades! What are they talking about? It turns out it's true."

Bettany's involvement in the MCU began with the very advent of the MCU in the '00s with 2008's Iron Man, where Bettany supplied the voice of Tony Stark's AI creation J.A.R.V.I.S. Bettany entered the '10s continuing that role in 2010's Iron Man 2, and then followed with 2012's Avengers and 2013's Iron Man 3.

The actor finally got to appear onscreen with the introduction of Vision in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron. Vision was created when Tony and Bruce Banner uploaded J.A.R.V.I.S. into a synthetic android, or "synthezoid," created by Ultron as an eventual upgrade. Prior to WandaVision, Bettany's last appearance as Vision was in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War. The character was killed by Thanos when the villain claimed the Mind Stone that powered him.

WandaVision has shown that Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, appears to have later retrieved Vision's mechanical remains and somehow reconstructed him. Debuting last month, the Disney+ streaming series marks Bettany entering his third decade in the MCU.

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. New episodes air Fridays on Disney+.
