Paul Bettany is now backtracking on his previous statements regarding the finale of WandaVision involving a surprise actor that hasn't leaked online. The Vision star appeared on Good Morning America, where he was asked about the internet being mad about his past comments regarding an actor he has always wanted to work with appearing in the WandaVision finale, with S.W.O.R.D.'s White Vision believed to be the character. "You know when you think something is going to be funny, and you say it, and you actually panic about it, which is what I did because fans started guessing who it might be," Bettany said. "They were guessing people like Benedict Cumberbatch or Patrick Stewart and I was thinking, 'My god that's a good idea.' They will be so disappointed when they find out it's me."RELATED: WandaVision Star Completely Forgot They Were on The Office

When asked if he was just trolling fans with White Vision, Bettany responded, "Well, you know I'd love to answer that question, but my service keeps..." and then he began to pretend that his video connection was being interrupted.

"I work with this actor that I have always wanted to work with, and we have fireworks together, and the scenes are great, and I think people will be really excited," Bettany said when teasing a potential mystery actor for WandaVision. This led to fan speculation that Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange or another high-profile star was set to be introduced in the finale of Marvel Studios' first live-action series on Disney+.

Director Matt Shakman has promised WandaVision will have a satisfying conclusion. "We were trying to tell a complete story in terms of the narrative around Westview, N.J., and we hope that there's some resolution to that story, and that it is satisfying and also surprising for the fans," Shakman said. "But Wanda will continue into Doctor Strange [in the Multiverse of Madness], and there's a lot more to her story to be told, so this is only one part of a very complicated and very rich life."

Marvel Studios presents WandaVision, a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision – two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives – begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. New episodes air Fridays on Disney+.
