At the start of WandaVision, Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Vision find themselves in the town of Westview and living out a number of different sitcom tropes. However, there are a lot of questions bubbling under the comedic surface of WandaVision as to just what's happening. While many of these mysteries have not yet been resolved, in this video, we're going to explain why we think Nightmare is the one behind the events of WandaVision.
Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Nightmare first appeared in 1963's Strange Tales #110. The villain -- who rules the Dream Dimension -- is generally considered one of Doctor Strange's most dangerous enemies, and that might be just where he connects to WandaVision. Elizabeth Olsen is slated to reprise her role as Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the reason might be related to Nightmare -- who has long been rumored to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, it's not totally clear just what shape the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will take. While there's a good indication the characters that Disney acquired from 21st Century Fox will soon arrive, there's not much solid information on just when or how that might happen. Right now, there are a lot of potential directions the MCU could take going forward, though exactly which one it will take remains to be seen. At this time Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness seems to be a key film, as it connects to both Disney+'s WandaVision and Loki series.
