While the latest episode of WandaVision indicated that Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch is responsible for the artificial reality that is Westview, there's a good chance there's much more to what's going on in the town than meets the eye. One of the most prominent theories suggests that the devil himself, Mephisto, is behind what's happening in the series. In this video, we're going to explain just who Mephisto is and why we think the character might have actually been hiding in plain sight as Dottie Jones this whole time.
Created by Stan Lee and John Buscema, Mephisto first appeared in 1968's The Silver Surfer #3. The character has served as the enemy of a number of high-profile Marvel characters, though one of his biggest recurring foes is Ghost Rider. The character even appeared in the 2007 and 2012 Ghost Rider films, having been played by Peter Fonda and Ciaran Hinds, respectively. The big reason we think Mephisto is involved in WandaVision is that there've been a number of key hints to the character's involvement, and Dottie is one of those who has dropped some clues.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, it's not totally clear just what shape the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will take. While there's a good indication the characters that Disney acquired from 21st Century Fox will soon arrive, there's not much solid information on just when or how that might happen. Right now, there are a lot of potential directions the MCU could take going forward, though exactly which one it will take remains to be seen.
