WandaVision arrives January 15 on Disney+ with a double-episode premiere, ending the year and a half long drought since the last MCU project hit theaters. The series, featuring Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany), is a welcome return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the superpowered couple is bringing with them some familiar names and faces.

There are a few characters whose links to the MCU are tenuous, built on confirmed casting and unconfirmed speculation. "Agnes," the cheeky neighbor played by Kathryn Hahn, may possibly be related to a fan-favorite mystic and the twin babies seen in the trailers are likely to be revealed as future young Avengers, but they remain in the realm of speculation, only being tantalizing teases of what's to come. These three characters, however, are confirmed to make their return to the MCU in WandaVision.

Monica Rambeau

Fans last saw Monica Rambeau in 2019's Captain Marvel, being raised by her mother, Maria. A plucky 11-year-old (played by Akira Akbar), Monica stays safe as her honorary "Auntie," Carol Danvers, gradually learns to understand her powers and herself. Young Monica does help Carol pick out the iconic colors of her suit in a great scene, though, and by the end of the film, the little girl is ready to figure out a way to reach the stars all by herself.

WandaVision sees Monica all grown up. Now played by Teyonah Parris, her true role in the series is kept vague, but there are some compelling hints that tie her varied comic book origins to SWORD. The biggest mystery going into the show is if Monica earns her electromagnetically-charged powers by the end of the first season, or if she already has them, which may very well be the reason the space-focused agency needs her to help solve the riddle of the universe Wanda has created.

Darcy Lewis

Darcy Lewis

Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) has been off the grid since 2013's Thor: The Dark World. Since her job as Jane Foster's flaky-yet-resilient intern, there were few clues as to what she's been up to since. Originally a political science major, promotional materials for WandaVision indicate that Darcy's gone on to complete her university studies and earn the title of Doctor Darcy Lewis. With Jane Foster getting ready to face a strange new future of her own in Thor: Love and Thunder, it's a good time to revisit this perky member of Erik Selvig's crew of Culver University irregulars.

What she's doing around the fringes of Wanda's warped pocket of reality is a riddle all its own. Darcy's no stranger to altered states, having been at ground zero during an invasion of Earth launched by Infinity Stone-empowered Dark Elves. The Reality Stone's red-tinged power to twist actuality into new possibilities has always borne a similarity to Wanda's abilities, and it may be enough to make Darcy a useful analyst to those outside Wanda's curiously happy home.

Jimmy Woo

Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man and the Wasp

FBI Agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) was introduced in 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp as Scott Lang's high ranking parole officer and affable conscience. Agent Woo quickly became another heartfelt character whose humanity overruled his need to play solely by the rules. Like his fellow returning characters, what he's doing in WandaVision is a mystery, but there may be clues in some old, eagle-eyed speculation.

Jimmy has a thin tie to S.H.I.E.L.D. in the MCU. In the second season of Agents of SHIELD, during the episode "Face My Fears," fans got a glimpse of Melinda May's cellphone contact list. The list included names like Natasha Romanoff, Melinda's mother Lian May and Jimmy Woo. Though Agents of SHIELD's links to the greater MCU are rarely followed up, Disney+ could be the right place to start weaving in some of these old clues.

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. The series premieres Jan. 15 on Disney+.
