The upcoming Disney+ series WandaVision promises to be far removed from anything fans have seen from the Marvel Cinematic Universe before.

Elizabeth Olsen, who plays the "Wanda" in WandaVision, has backed up reports that the series will be Marvel's first sitcom. "There are plenty of comic books that support why both of these characters should be in a sitcom," she told IGN. Paul Bettany (Vision) added that it will be the "oddest" thing Marvel has done.

Another tie-in with the sitcom genre is that Kathryn Hahn will reportedly be playing a "nosy neighbor," a common trope in the situational comedy format. WandaVision cast members Randall Park and Kat Dennings are both sitcom veterans as well, with Park starring in ABC's Fresh of the Boat and Kat Dennings starring in CBS' 2 Broke Girls.

WandaVision is just one of the Marvel series set to premiere on Disney+. Other shows include She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki.

WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn in an undisclosed role. Jac Schaeffer will serve as series showrunner. The show will stream exclusively on Disney+ in spring 2021.
