Ahead of WandaVision's premiere on Disney+, Marvel head Kevin Feige teased that Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) will be influenced by Hydra.

"In regards to how other truths of the show are leaking out, commercials were an idea of how we could do that," Feige recently told Deadline about the references to the Hydra terrorist organization in WandaVision promos. "It's just a strange version of the 1960s commercials that you have to keep watching."

He added, "If you've watched all the movies, you’ll be able to connect what they mean."

Feige's comments came after Marvel Studios and Disney+ dropped a series of old-timey television commercials to promote WandaVision. The first commercial was titled "Marriage" and opened in an I Love Lucy-inspired aesthetic. Later in the spot, Wanda (Olsen) explained to her nosy neighbor Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) that she's "married to a man. A human one."

A number of other TV spots and promos released ahead of the series premiere focused on Wanda and Vision's (Paul Bettany) decade-jumping and seemingly ideal suburban life. However, all of the spots have one thing in common -- the lurking presence of Hydra. While the exact involvement of Hydra remains unclear, fans will recall that the organization played a major part in Wanda’s origin story when Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker experimented on her and her brother Pietro with the Mind Stone.

Beyond the references to Hydra, the nine episodes that make up WandaVision will also serve as a jumping-off point for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will set up the events in the upcoming Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While Feige didn't shed any more light on Phase 4 of the MCU, he did tease in the same interview, "I hope WandaVision says 'Get ready for the new and the different.' I hope all of our movies have said that, one after the other. Certainly, with the Disney+ opportunities, it has allowed us to expand."

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. The series premieres Jan. 15 on Disney+.
